Thumbs up for doing this video Leigh,, not because I liked it but for it’s absolute honesty. I’d like to think that by now I’ve got a good insight into the way you run your farm, courage, determination and love is what you two have, you never forget them last moments of a life you have to end, it seems to haunt you forever even though you know it’s the right and only way to end the suffering as fast as possible!!. Good video and done respectfully 👍

Mate, I'll never forget the stories you told Toon & myself regarding what you went through with your animals. I think when you use the word 'haunting' some people may think it's a bit ott. But not for us,. It's always there somewhere in the back of your noggin. That's the only reason I didn't open the video life on the desktop for so long. Nearly scrapped it.

Great video. This is the harsh reality laid bare. The romance of farming is what we think about and rarely does anyone tell the truth. I really enjoy your videos as they rarely colour coat anything. Keep up the good work.

@@TLFarm I was travelling around Thailand just before covid. I would of definitely come and seen you guys and the farm. Looks like paradise to be honest. I’ve watched quite a few of your videos and it has its ups and downs with a lot of morality questioning but I think that’s more because your filming it and most people are wet lettuces. 😂😂😂😂 You guys are doing amazingly and living the dream. I watched you get teary over the goats so sending you a big man hug ya big fanny. 😂😂😂😂😂 it’s farm life and you gotta do what you gotta do unfortunately. I’m a chef and totally turned off to all that kind of stuff. I’ve murked more lobsters and butchered more animals than I can count, but as long as it’s ethical then nobody has a right to say anything. I noticed you have a Som Tam addiction like me. Have you got up to 8 chillies yet? I’m a 1 chilly kinda guy. 😂😂😂😂😂 Ive watched back over a year now I think and I noticed you was having a breading issue in the pond with the crayfish. You’ve probably sorted it by now but it’s definitely a water temperature and water oxygen level kinda issue. Maybe too much water in the pond so it’s too cold at the bottom. Be interesting to take temperature samples of the water in the breading tanks then the bottom of the pond and see what the differences are. The colder they get the stop feeling like humpy pumpy and they lose their appetite. I catch them around me in Yorkshire all summer but they vanish when the water is under 7c. I’ve ended up writing an essay!! Big love and il keep on watching with support. ❤️

Showing the darkside of livestock farming is bonkers hard. It's so much easier just to record goats eating & kids jumping & playing. In our opinion that creates an unrealistic overview of what it's like to be goat farmers. It's proper hard, & that's what we try to tell would-be goat farmers.

This video so nearly didn't get published. It sat on the computer desktop for at least a month unopened. I dreaded opening the files to begin editing, but hey, Toon & myself always promised from the start of our channel that we'll show our real life. All farming shouldn't be taken lightly, but raising livestock, even more so. That alone drove us on to publish it.

It is a harsh reality. Raising animals has its downsides. I've had to dispatch ducks, goats, and dogs. And every time it hurts. But as you say, that's the reality of having animals. And I love the animals in my life, and it does affect you emotionally. I had to put down my best mate of 18 years a while back. Jack dog was my best mate, and I still get emotional two years later.

I know its a dumb American suggestion....but can't you guys buy a small .22 caliber revolver for a quick headshot? It would be much quicker and less painful than the neck slice or suffocation. They can't be that expensive and would be worth it...obviously, Toon would have to buy it and be in her name etc.

It becomes much more emotional if you are breeding animals. We had pigs. You are involved in the whole cycle of their lives, not just feeding and watering of growing animals for market. You see much more of the nature of each animal and form closer relationships with some of them. Remember this, by keeping animals you assume complete responsibility for them. In grown up speak, that means as the Thais say "Up to you Somjai!" Also sick and elderly animals are looking for relief, you are giving them what they need and I believe, want. Get good at it and be proud that you have done your part. After that forget the "task" and remember the favourites fondly. Even the buggers will often bring a smile. Nothing and no-one escapes this life alive. Live it well.
@markkirkland3178 Жыл бұрын
The primary purpose of raising livestock is the production of SOMETHING from that animal. Meat, milk, plowing the farm, new offspring or even companionship. But it seems to me you're not raising goats for your personal consumption. But if the pain of losing a goat is to much, then bury it with grace. But you must feel that is a waste, and grudgingly realize the use of the animal goes beyond simply raising them to sell. Tough one.

Can Toon not get a pistol or even a rifle to dispatch the sick animals ? Once you give an animal a name then you get attached to it , unless your not human , all you can do is give them a good life and perhaps one bad day !
