While I appreciate the video, none of the 6th picked QBs listed were Heisman finalists, highest single season completion % in NCAA history, most starts by a QB in NCAA history, or drafted by Sean Payton. Bo Nix was a household name in college. Then others you listed here were not.

Do you know who else was in a statistical dead heat time with Nix for the highest single season completion percentage in college football history? Mac Jones. Jones had a 77.36% completion rate in his 3rd season at Alabama. That compares to Nix who had a 77.44% completion rate. Statistically you round 77.36 up to 77.4 and you round 77.44 down to 77.4. In other words, the difference here is less than the statistical measuring used in the NFL considers worth noting. The other difference is...Jones did it in his 3rd year instead of his 5th, & perhaps more importantly, he did it against better SEC defenses. College stats, being a Heisman finalist, or having a household name...none of that is relevant in the NFL. If they were, Tim Tebow would now be a star in the NFL & Mac Jones would not be a backup on the bench. People need to chill with the pressure they are putting on this kid.

I think Nix will be good and really won't have to try that hard. He has probably the best all around package of attributes of the quarterbacks drafted. He has the perfect fit for a coach, an offensive line that was third in the NFL in run block win rate last year, a stable of very impressive running backs, several very promising wide receivers in a large competition, and Lukas Krull likely to break out at TE. Their bigger question marks are at LB, CB and maybe safety. I don't have them as a playoff team this year, but I think they will be in all but a few games, and that they're one killer defensive offseason away from being a deep contender.

Love the editing, i just subscribed. I think being 6th off the board isn't a big deal in this class. I mean i remember the draft with rg3 and luck but Russell Wilson ended up being a gem in the third round. With how the league has changed in terms of quarterback development the league is very impatient with a quarterbacks success, i always think of matt hasslebeck saying after 4 or 5 years backing up favre and doug Pederson he still didn't feel ready to play staying qb in the nfl and look how he ended up. I get he was underrated, undrafted i believe so he was not as expensive if an investment, but still the impatience is insane. If you couple that with how many teams had to try to navigate with a back up last year, i think it lead to hysteria in this draft for quarterbacks causing guys to get over drafted. However when you see guys like Purdy excel, you see #1 picks that are struggling to play at that level, and i mean Dan Marino was the 6th qb off the board but idk if that was talent i think it was because of the rumors he liked to hit the slopes, and crush fluffy bunnyhills of nose candy with his sniffer lol. Anyways i think there a lot that goes into this, i feel you could make a video with other 6th qbs picked and other late round or undrafted guys that work. So i don't agree with you, but i also don't disagree. But the editing is crisp and clean, well researched and you have a great voice. I would argue that some trends are more significant than others. Just looking at the 6th QB taken in a draft with no other context doesn't strike me as a particularly informative trend. As you noted with your examples, sometimes that 6th QB went in the 5th round, sometimes the 4th round. The one comparison you make of a Sixth selection that was actually drafted in the 1st round was Marino. But, even this trend doesn't really give us anything truly useful. I think the more relevant trend is as follows. From 2000 to 2019, 46% of QBs drafted in the first round performed well enough for their teams to sign them to an extension. I think that stat, more than the 6th QB stat, is a more compelling argument that Nix will struggle to find success in the NFL.

People need to get off this kids back and give him a chance to acclimate himself to the NFL. The pressure has to be unreal for him and all of the rookie QBs. The Broncos had to draft a quarterback, but with a 50 to 60 percent failure rate on quarterbacks, there was no sense in spending draft capital that they didn't have to trade up. Get what mccarthy? Reports from OTAs suggest that he is not any better than Nix if not maybe worse. But there's also no point in waiting when you're going to draft him anyway. You're not going to get a bunch of draft capital trading that much down from pick 12 . By all reports, Nix was considered a late first round early second round pick, so taking him at 12 is not ridiculous. It's not like they drafted a 4th or 5th round talent (as are the majority of these examples).

Statistically every quarterback that makes it onto an NFL roster is very good quarterback or they wouldn't make the roster. The difference between the great quarterbacks and the good quarterbacks have more to do with personal drive and ambition than any other factor. The great ones have self control and do not let the media provoke them. The great ones have unbelievable work ethics and inspire the team with the dedication and commitment to winning they show everyday in the time and preparation they exhibit to team mates. They take the initiative and watch extra game film, they constantly work to improve their physical fitness and strength to minimize the risk of injury. They prove they are a team leader in everything they do both on and off of the field. Being a great quarterback means being great at inspiring your team mates when the refs are extremely biased in how they are calling the game. Being a great quarterback means do to the volume of game film you watch each week allows you to see and exploit weaknesses of the team you are playing that week. Being a great quarterback means knowing how to manage the game clock in close games to give your team the upper hand winning by just using time or not using time as the situation dictates. This is what makes great quarterbacks and if you look at the entire history of the NFL not many quarterbacks selected in the first round have had great careers in the NFL. The NFL is a pressure cooker and it takes either a person that has tunnel vision and never watches sports news or someone who uses criticism as a motivator to prove his critics wrong!

Bo Nix did NOT transfer to Oregon to be in a "new system". He transferred there to get AWAY from a NEW system & BACK into his OLD system...the one he had in his first two seasons at Auburn when Gus Malzahn was the HC. Malzahn's system of no huddle/hurry up play artificially elevates an offense & the stats of the QB since the defense can't freely substitute. When combined with the Air Raid system that isolates speed on the perimeters in matchups that favor the offense...especially when there is a talent discrepancy...it's almost inevitable that it will score huge numbers of points. Malzahn's offensive coordinator in Bo's freshman year was Kenny Dillingham. Dillingham was the OC at Oregon when Nix transferred there. Basically Nix left Auburn in 2021 because he struggled with new coach Bryan Harsin's pro style offense after Malzahn was fired & was benched temporarily by the new coach. Asked by reporters how he liked playing in that offense on his way out the door...one that asked him to make more than one or two reads...Nix described it as "a nightmare" Nix played in EXACTLY the same offense in 4 of his 5 seasons in college. After Dillingham left for Arizona in Bo's final year, Oregon hired Will Stein to replace him as OC. He was hired with the understanding that he would run the same offense Nix had with Dillingham. That offense is notoriously bad for developing QBs for the NFL. How bad? NFL QB trainer Jordan Palmer who worked with Joe Burrow & Josh Allen, described it as having almost no value for QB development when he was talking about the struggles that current Broncos QB Jarrett Stidham had when he arrived in the league with the Patriots. Now...after working with Palmer & having been in the same QB room for 5 seasons with 4 pro bowl QBs plus Belichick, McDaniels & Payton...Stidham can read NFL defenses. It remains to be seen if Nix can, but it's doubtful he can as a rookie. Research takes time...not doing it damages your credibility.

In the modern Oregon era, there have been 3 nfl Duck QBs and 1/3 is already a all-pro player, and another is Bo Nix who’s only played one game. Bo Nix and Herbert weren’t even alive when Dan Fouts played but you want to act like since he also played for Oregon back in the day there’s some systematic qb curse within the program🤦♂️

The 6th qb is always cursed what!?!? Thats the dumbest argument in the world yes in the past they were bad notice how none of them were in the first round but nix is maybe bc they were bad and hes not

What a joke. What the ???? Does the #6 chosen in draft have to do with Bow Nix. Nix is the very best of his draft class by far. Nix is already scaring the rest of there division. Nix is a all pro Hall of Fame Quarterback. Broncos will make playoffs this year and possibly further. Bor Nix is way better than Elway was in his rookie season. He is perfect for his coach. I can't wait to see you hater's eat crow.... Ha ha.

These talking heads make hay ($$$) from other men's sweat, toil and blood. Best to tune them out - esp at this time of the season. Pass.

Oh blow it out your hood hah, danger RUST looked as bad or worse than any QB I've ever seen, it seemed he could not either understand our offenses or he couldn't see over the line of scrimmage..He got lucky on some crazy plays here and there but he had more 3 and outs than any QB we had since Flaco..he sucked. Let's Ride, our big wheels boys.

Bo Nix will be a bust … his Auburn stint showed me he can’t handle rising pressure or the big moment . Him playing on OREGON helped camouflage that a little bit . But if I can recall there was even a critical game at the end of the season where he shit the bed
