36 hours g1 battery vs meta raybans 4 hours battery /: maybe another reason for removing the speakers and make it thinner, open source will hopefully bring more useful features but my favourite one was also the even ai which was not in the video o.o and navigation works for me for the way home even when its sometimes need to reload but works at the end. still use the rabbit r1 ai because he is the cutest well animated ai with a face and character and no cold textbox, love to listen to halloween stories or play rpgs with rabbit r1 and scan stuff, the voice is very cartoony fun to listen too^^ he gives even each character in a story a very own voice and the devs deliver so many updates and improverments, very sad to see so much hate for such a great lil helper sidekick helps me with coding and problem safing in game development.

yeah I would definitely recommend holding on to the glasses. with their commitment to open source, a developer community has sprung up. good things are coming

This is an excellent review. As a public speaker, I've found that if you're experienced with teleprompters, you can deliver scripted presentations without it appearing as though you’re reading. The floating screen may take some time to get used to, but with practice, it can be mastered. You can easily toggle between looking at the script and making eye contact with your audience. I've even managed to do this in small group settings without it seeming like I was reading. The AI feature allows me to deviate from the script and return to it when I’m ready. I do agree that this is a one trick pony and is not something to be worn throughout the day. But because I speak for a living, it has been a game changer for me.
@XC-Z-cv8qw2 ай бұрын
My view is that it becomes too obvious and unnatural for reading scripts if you wear something as pronounced as these glasses.
@MegumiFushiguro-lg1td2 ай бұрын
As a person who've done a bunch of presentations with G1, I can tell honestly, no one thought I looked unnatural while speaking. I just use it as a backup to remind me, so I’m still making eye contacts with the audience and moving my eyes naturally.

Time. Notifications. Directions. These are the only things I've wanted from smart glasses. I have been dying to get my hands on some since google glass. But everything has been weighed down with all of these expectations. I fully understand why people want more but i am over the moon that someone has finally made the sleek, no frills smart glasses i have been dying for for over a decade. I bought these as soon as i heard about them and can't wait to get my hands on them

I think G1 mainly targets people who already wear glasses. For a tech gadget, it might be a bit pricey. But if for a pair of quality glasses, I felt worth paying a bit extra to upgrade to smart glasses. The issues you mentioned are real, some features are 'useful but not perfect.' Luckily ER updates its software fast, so I think it’ll keep improving and be able to do more down the road.

I think as a first generation product it's pretty solid I think the next generation products will be even better!

I think we might also see products with the same quality but way less price. The way we're seeing fitness trackers now. Like you can get a basic generic Fitbit type thing for 15-20 bucks these days and it's functional. Not hyper accurate but still a pedometer / Bluetooth calling machine

A smart ring that you can control by touch and strokes (instead of movement gestures only), would be the accessory those glasses and its software rather obviously need.

There are a few things I don't quite agree with. First of all. Speakers. I am happy that there are no speakers, since adding speakers and keeping the sides so slim and make them look like "normal" glasses is pretty much impossible. Less is sometimes more. Second is the "button" position. I agree that it should be somewhere else but maybe not to the side directly. Right in front of the ears would be a better spot, since right at the sides is where I mostly touch my glasses, so always pressing the button by accident all 5 - 10 minutes would be a pain for me. Also about the clip. I'm gonna be honest, I am not the biggest fan. I usually wear glasses that can automatically adjust their tint based on the brightness outside by reacting with sunlight which I would love for these glasses as well. The teleprompter for me is only really good for bullet points and that's also the main part I'd use it for. Also the ray ban aren't for me at all. I hate having cameras on my glasses and I don't like that the only real way to interact properly is with voice. I'm already shy enough speaking to myself in public would destroy me. Also you can actually read novels and such with the even realities which you can't do with the ray ban.
@michael_c22 ай бұрын
@@rocketcrafter4435 there could be a hybrid type solution or maybe you could add a speaker as an accessory or something. I would get frustrated not having access to a speaker at all. That really limits its ability to replace a smartwatch for instance since Bluetooth calling is such an important feature on those things. I'm sure some people will wear these in addition to a smartwatch and that's fine but now you're all of a sudden keeping track of charging three for things everyday
@rocketcrafter44352 ай бұрын
@michaelcorcoran8768 most people I know already use headphones. You have to stop thinking of them as smart glasses and more like glasses with extra steps. I do agree that speakers would be cool but its not properly feesable and also would reduce the battery live from 1.5 days down to just a few hours. Also I guess it depends on if you usually wear glasses or not but as someone who does I already take my glasses off everytime before I go to bed. So now instead of putting them on the counter I will just put them in the case. Charging it doesnt require extra steps. You have to remember. Even realities confirmed, that those are supposed to be glasses before everything else. They try to enhance the experience of wearing glasses. And if you do wear glasses and want to use those as your everyday glasses you dont want them bulky. You want them slick without any features that can get you in trouble in certain situations

Brilliant video as usual. I’ve been looking at different smart glasses for a while because of a car I owned when they came out. When the BMW M6 V10 came out one of the reasons I bought mine was the HUD. It worked well, speed, Sat nav ext all up in the windscreen. It was awesome. I felt like James Bond every time I drove the car. So. I’d love for a manufacturer to come up with AI HUD driving glasses. Prescription optioned but simply for driving. Text notifications would be useful but ultimately for driver information. Speed, revs and nav warnings for destinations. I see something like this as useful …

@dannyorozcoАй бұрын
These glasses are the future. I love them because they don’t have a camera or a speaker, which I find unnecessary and adds extra weight. The main reason I bought them is for the teleprompter feature. Honestly, I don’t see the issue with reading from them; even if I did, what’s the problem? When giving a speech, you can still read from a teleprompter. After all, that's how political figures deliver their speeches!

Thanks for your review. it all just sounds like a software problem that could be fixed with an update. i would like to see an API for the glasses so that you can map your own use cases there. As long as the readability is there, it still seems to be a great product.

These definitely are a first gen product in many ways from software quirks to hardware issues everyone who will buy these (including me when i get the chance) will provide the base knowledge they need going foward to improve later iterations so if you buy these i like that this review was honest and she wasn't just bashing the glasses she laid out the issues you might encounter . I personally with their quirks would choose the G1 over meta because i just prefer to see info than hear it. Also some of the few youtube reviews out there do over hype these and you might go in expecting too much. These glasses are basically like a dumbed down smart watch on your face, having limited scope as to the info they give to you and functionality they offer(there are no health tracking sensors or speakers) however there is enough functionality that for some people they are a useful purchase albeit at a high price because like i pointed out these are a first gen product. Remember how expensive the original samsung z fold was and that device had issues I also strongly agree with the software point, these have lots of potential but the software is holding them back, however recently they opened up their software to the growing community so in a little time we will get to see just how far the functionality of these can be pushed to

I The problem with the Ray-Ban glasses is that you're paying with your data. You have to have a Facebook account, it has to use your real name and verify your identity. That's a deal breaker for me. I would much rather pay extra money and not be paying with my data. If I can't use a product without owning a Facebook account and using ID verification... It'd be one thing if you could just use a dummy account like you can with a backup Gmail on a Chromebook or something. But honestly you'd have to pay me to wear those meta glasses. It's a shame too because I appreciate the hardware just like I appreciate their Oculus stuff. But having to have an account with that company is a complete deal breaker

Excellent review! Seeing the screen by others is not a problem. It’s no different than seeing those who move their eyes to read a teleprompter- we all can tell anyway - no big deal but, I’m glad they don’t have a camera. I dont need another inferior to the phone camera nor the accusation that Im a perv secretly filming. I don’t care it doesn’t have a speaker. I suspect that actually helps the battery life. I do care about battery life, Also, I appreciate knowing about the touch pads and scrolling. I hope they consider fixing those things with the next design, having to pull out my phone is not a big deal. These are an enchantment not a replacement to the phone in my opinion. The translation subscription is the biggest bummer for me. You are right - the price of translation - proper translation- and navigation needs to be built into the purchase price. If not; deal breaker. Again - thank you for an excellent review ❤

They delivered only exactly what was advertised and are commited to upgrades with time. I don't work for them or any company and have no interest financially. I find tech reviewers feel like they need to say something negative to get views and I'm not sure why I expected different from you. I think you can be more creative to get views without being mean. Overhyped and harsh truth is a bit much and can run the product into the ground, preventing further development.
