Judge Rachel Freier, founder of Ezras Nashim, wears many hats on top of paramedic - not least of which is US Civil Court Judge.
Elected as Judge in 2016, it was a step up from her career in law, where she was licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Washington DC.
As a wife, mother, grandmother and longtime community activist, Ruchie - as she is better known - made history as the first Chassidic woman elected to public office, earning an honor from her alma maters, Touro College and Brooklyn Law School.
In this episode, Judge Ruchie talks to Yaakov about the hurdles she has faced along her journey, her experiences on TV and a big announcement on an exciting next chapter of her life.
You can reach Judge Freier here: RuchieFreier@gmail.com
Date correction: Documentary film 93Queen began filming in 2013
Date notification: Supreme Court Judges election by Brooklyn district leaders scheduled for first week in August. Please daven, say Tehilim for her success.

Jewish women are amongst the hardest working and most amazing wives and mother's that I've ever known. They're true inspirations, who are strong but compassionate and genuinely great roles model for all the women coming up behind them. ☺️💕

The courts are in desperate need of women judges with the extra binah that women have. They are also in desperate need of someone who is honest, has integrity, who lives for G-D and can stick to her values no matter the circumstances. Thank you Ruchy Frier for sharing your story! I really admire your solid hashkafa!

I got here from a link advertising the video as "Women Should Deliver Babies". That certainly seems like a better idea than having men deliver babies. It's uncomfortable and somewhat risky work, so women deserve respect for doing it.

There's nothing controversial about the concept of women in emergency medical care- aka Ezras Nashim- the frum world sometimes takes a minute to wrap its proverbial "mind" around new concepts- a little slow on the uptake- women caring for women is an age old Torah concept - Shira & Puah- etc.

I pity the ignorance of this woman. No other Hasidic woman did it before because it’s not the Hasidic way of life. Anyone who thinks that a Jewish woman belongs in the public sphere and exposing herself to a collage environment had no clue as what Chasidus is all about.

Whether you are right or wrong in your opinions, you are certainly wrong to criticize her in public. Lashon hara is still a very serious issur--or rather, many serious issurim, including in every case chillul Hashem.

Chasidus is actually raising the mundane to become spiritual and glorify Hashem. I don't see how what she is doing is a contradiction to that. Do you know any stories of the baal shem tov and his interactions with people? And regarding college, she literally went to Touro which is a frum college

I understand a woman learning a goyshe skill for parnassa as long as it doesn’t interfere with halacha (I would think that judging goyshe laws might be problematic acc to halacha especially when they can contradict Torah laws) but I don’t see how becoming a lawyer or judge can be justified for a woman. Especially since such a profession demands mixing with men a lot.
@anonymous-io6zg

Mixing or talking to...big difference.. we all talk to men daily. We go into stores, we go to Doctors ..etc etc men are part of the human race, to frum ppl as well.
