Fascinating and informative as usual. One small correction, if I may though. Some of Mendelsohn's grandchildren did indeed remain Jewish. Today happens to be the birthdate of Moses' oldest child Joseph, founder of the bank Mendelssohn & Co. Joseph along with his sister Recha were the only two of the couple’s six children to remain Jewish. Joseph's son (Moses's grandson), Alexander likewise bucked the conversion trend, however, he eventually did have his children baptized.

Very recommendable. Until very recently, I have to admit I was not aware there was a Jewish Enlightenment besides the German, French, Scottish, and American Enlightenment
