He has not sold out to corporate Hollywood, his movies never miss, reach Oscar contention, and probably take a shitload less money to make. Has the balls to even release with Force Awakens ticket sales...

+LiTTleGaBi21 I'm the same. My grandmother saw all the films from the sixties filmed in 70mm and she always said how incredible they were. Our hometown never had a cinema screen big enough to project a 70mm image, but they used to put up a gigantic tent in the park and screen them in that for a limited time only. I can't believe someone like Tarantino hasn't thought about doing something like that, it seems like something which would be right up his street.

Definitely was worth seeing in 70mm, you can visually see the difference between film and digital and I love the look it gives - something you can't see if you watch on DVD or TV. You can see the screen flicker more, the finer grain texture over the shot, the way light blooms differently and the tonal appearance. Was nice to have the overture beforehand and the intermission too, in a really old theatre with the grand halls and hanging red robes on the walls here in Melbourne, Australia. Really loved it, made it more of an experience. Also once you've watched the movie, if you see it again and pay more attention to the compositions Quentin used - they are just perfect for the ratio of the film, which I imagine would have been difficult at first. Some of the shots inside the hut are just perfect, the placement of the characters and where the beams in the building are - separating the suspects of the "who dun it", along with little aspects of subtle lighting, etc.

Wow! The theater at 3:40 it's the Arcadia Cinema in Italy just outside Milan, few km from where I live. They just confirmed they will have the 70 mm prints. They are, technically speaking, one of the best movie theater in europe and maybe in the world, and right in these days they are upgrading even more with a new Perlux screen 30 meters wide x 16 meters high and a new sound system. It will be ready for Star Wars on the 16th of December (yes, here in Italy we can see it 2 days before USA!!!). Look up on google for Arcadia Multiplex in Melzo, Milan.

This was not Tarantion's best film (probably in the middle of them all), but without question, his most beautifully shot movie - the cinematography is exquisite. Personally, I think (in recent times) 'No Country For Old Men' was about as beautiful if not more so in it's cinematography, but it's all subjective. Just appreciate there are still filmmakers that still care about the beauty of film.

+Gabriel Serrano I saw The Hateful Eight on Christmas day and it was fantastic. The problem with doing more releases using 70mm/2.76:1 aspect ratio is that no movie theatre across the world can view this format. I was lucky enough to see this 70mm version from where I am. Also, the production costs of making a film in 70mm is twice compared to a movie shot in ordinary digital or in 35mm film. Nevertheless, 70mm films may be the new direction of film makers. The next film to be made in this format (Ultra Panavision 70) is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. So, expect hotshot directors such as Christopher Nolan, or J.J. Abrams to be craving to make films in this format. Add to that, expect movies to spike its prices in theatres once this thing becomes the de-facto standard.

This is where we stand today: a filmmaker once considered an innovator feels obliged to become a conservationist--the opposite of an innovator--because we've changed away too much too fast and are at risk of losing all the good stuff from the past. And there was a lot of good stuff in the past. They deserve preserving.

wow that was amazing to see. Hope Hollywood continues to make those kinds of movies which are works of art and not an 'extended video game' we have all accepted as film art.

How do you add special effects and CGI to stuff shot on film?
@gregorybrown8441
@gregorybrown8441 5 жыл бұрын
Movie Games I believe special effects are added once everything is converted to digital. I know Quentin doesn’t like cgi so there aren’t too many special effects in his movies. I think most of the effects are practical.

Im struggling to find a theater in Toronto that plays movies in 70mm. Tarantino is a cinephile he loves the experience of the true cenmatic experience and I commend him for making a film actually using Panavision lenses.

I read that QT will continue producing and writing, and that may include the theater. The Hateful Eight would be perfect for on stage. I can only imagine what he'll come up with his stellar dialogue writing.

1:32 Holy shit an American who actually says Cinema instead of Theatre. In the UK a theatre is where you watch plays not movies. A cinema is for movies.
@KidsWithGuns1992
@KidsWithGuns1992 7 жыл бұрын
Technically true, but it's not entirely wrong to call a cinema a theatre, as that's what it really is - it's a room where people are viewing something, which is the definition of a theatre (viewing room, not "the theatre" as in a play, there are sort of different ways to say it). I say that as an Australian who uses the same terminology as English people. But yeah I refer to "the cinemas" as such, not as "the theatre".
