Hi Donny, A nice shout out to Steve"s channel tvnash & welcoming him to the KZbin community as he"s been very supportive to our channels with great comments as always. I think i"ll past on "The Assignment" as i like Walter Hill myself as a director & picked up a few movies in the upcoming update, let me know what that Gian Maria Volonte movie is like from a label i"m not familiar with, need to see more of his movies other than the spaghetti westerns movies that he starred in, thanks for the shout out & a beautiful release from Indicator for "The Big Gundown" High quality set from Imprint, i remember enjoying "The Killing fields" back in the vhs days, & i actually never got around to watching "The Mission" which is bad considering i"m a fan of Robert De Niro 😬, but still don"t have the movie in my collection, great stuff as always Donny.

Hi Carlos, Steve is a great guy and I hope he will get more subs. He definitely deserve it. He's a worthy addition to our community. It's wonderful that he decided to make videos himself. I understand why you would pass on The Assignment. I still can't believe Walter Hill made this crap. He's way too good for it. I haven't seen the Volonté film yet, but I will let you know when I do. Indicator did a terrific job with The Big Gundown release. I will give you the DVD set of The Mission along with the German edition of His Name is Holy Ghost. I will ship it sometime next week. Thanks so much for the shout out Donny, I really appreciate it a whole lot. Solid Haul Update as usual too, so much Blu Ray and DVD goodness. They aired Thomasine & Bushrod on a station here in the US sometime ago and I never thought to check it out before. Your storyline for the film sounds way better than the finalized screenplay, but still looks good regardless. Vonetta McGee is an exquisitely beautiful woman, especially in Il Grande Silenzio. Her and Pam Grier teaming up as Bounty Hunters in a Western would've been a great idea. Had no idea before that Max Julien was one of the screenwriters for Cleopatra Jones, that's really cool. I read a mini review of the film once that cited Tamara Dobson as James Bond's female equivalent, and I totally agree with that. I've only seen clips of Cleopatra Jones so far, but it looks like a fun ride I'll have to check out in full in the future. I forget how I found out Walter Hill's The Assignment, but I remember being intrigued and puzzled at the same time. The premise is interesting and different, but it definitely wasn't executed like it should have been. It was definitely low point for Hill, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver. Turner Classic Movies usually airs Remember the Night at least twice during Christmas, but I've never sat down to watch it. Two genres I'm kinda picky about are Musicals and Romance films, there's a select few of each I absolutely adore, and Remember the Night felt just a bit too sappy for my tastes, but maybe Christmas 2023 I'll give it a look. I'll be getting that Indicator release of the Big Gundown myself soon, a Western I don't mind double dipping on at all. Sadly I missed out on the limited edition of The Working Class Goes to Heaven, wasn't enough room in the budget for it at the time unfortunately, but at least they're putting out a standard edition. Still looking to get that Gothic Fantastico set myself, still waiting for that price drop in my area. All the films look good. I saw The Mission back in my Senior year of High School in 2006 for a Religious Studies class, and wow - what an emotional ride and experience it is, Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons were in their prime then. Maestro Morricone's score is always beautiful, poetic, and haunting to listen to, he knew how to make a film and his score gel together like peanut butter & jelly. That would've been awesome. You know what's more awesome? McGee, Grier and Tamara Dobson together in a western. What a movie that would have been! The ultimate badass chick flick! Yes, Dobson definitely is James Bond's female equivalent. Some claims Halle Berry is the first female equivalent in Die Another Day, but they clearly have never seen Cleopatra Jones. I thought Sigourney Weaver was the best part about The Assignment, but even she could not safe the movie. I was hoping to receive Remember the Night before Christmas last year, but I guess I have to wait for Christmas this year. The Mission is an incredible and emotional piece of cinema and it was great seeing it again after many, many years. Thank you very much for your wonderful comment, my friend. Take care!

It's a kicker that City of Joy still hasn't been released in the UK on Blu-Ray or DVD. I'm not certain whether Warner Bros. Still hold the rights to the film in the UK. Its a grand box set from Imprint, but I have all the other titles, just City of Joy that eludes me. Probably one of Patrick Swayze's best performances with Pauline Collins and Om Puri.

Quite strange City of Joy hasn't had a DVD or Blu-ray release in the UK yet. I know there's a Dutch DVD, but it has the wrong aspect ratio and the only other Blu-ray I know of is from French, but that one has burnt-in French subtitles. Hopefully a UK edition will come soon.

I just Love that to the point summation, which is why I had to print it. Love it! But changing gears, I too bought that Arrow Gothic box. Haven't cracked into it yet but a long time ago I did stumble upon The Witch on You Tube...a terrible print. Nevertheless I was intriqued by it, hence, why I bought this set. Anyway Donny thanks for the as always entertaining monthly update!

I still have to crack into the Gothic Fantastico set as well, and I'm thinking of getting the Danza Macabra boxset from Severin, which also contains Italian Gothic horror films.
