The name comes from the Old Testament, and is pronounced Heh-zuh-KIA-uh. Washington Allston was a well-known portrait painter - the Boston district of Allston was named after him, and is just across the Charles river from Cambridge. It was originally an independent town. Cambridge Common was where the first 'hippies' showed up in the Boston area in the 1960s. It's right across the street from Harvard university.
