It would be interesting if swamp of the dead is related to dead waters. However there is no hints of voodoo in the description, nor on the props that have appeared. So it seems to be more zombie themed than voodoo themed. At best, we might get an easter egg from the previous house once the event begins.

Although it could be related to Dead Waters I sincerely doubt that they’ll make any reference to the story or the Voodoo Queen. The character greatly offended those who still practice voodoo and the queen character with the stage show were discontinued after a week of operation due to a couple of protesters. As for Louisiana, a lot of Universal entertainment panders to the state for their massive Mardi Gras and overall nearby demographic

may be slightly tacky, but dont lump all of us practitioners together. i never was offended, im sorry to those who were (though i havnt heard anyone say a thing, just overall enjoyment from those i talked to). if anything (and i quote) its like every other tacky stereotypical character. this comment feels so Disney DEI coded, when we all wanted Dr. Facillier in ex-Splash Mountain but everything has to be PC and everything is offensive. Mama Odie didnt deserve the downgrade to fairy godmother when she was known for voodoo too. its patronizing that those outside find stuff offensive on behalf of those who are involved and dont. let them speak up for themselves, dont speak for everyone. thats more offensive than anything.
