I kinda like that about some of Coates' characters - not all of them are ones I enjoy or can deeply connect to but I still find the horror aspects of the book very interesting and well written.

She made an interesting main character, understandable that she had some issues, mixed with a fiery character. Sometimes the main characters become boring if they're all the same bland sort.

I have listened to 4 other Darcy Coates audiobooks and I really liked them. This one... I'm not digging the main characters personality or her relationship with her boyfriend. I'm hoping as the paranormal plot picks up, there will be less on Mara personally.

Yeah, I didn’t enjoy this one very much. Besides the characters being just OTT and lame at the same time, their relationship was saccharine and unbelievable. Also no real mystery or scariness. Felt like lazy writing.

I understand Mara's character,she was disillusioned by her earlier experiences and that made her hold a grudge towards her parents and she swore never to be open towards these practices again.I think Neil's character embodied a real gentleman with patience towards Mara's personal issues.Nice storyline i really enjoyed it!
