Even if the "angel" is part of some version of the original text. The greek word for "angel" can also refer to a human messenger. So it could be a reference to the person who climbed down that shaft, opened the floodgate to allow the stirring of the waters.

Wrong. In the first century, the pool was part of an Asclepieion - a temple dedicated to the god of medicine and healing, Asclepius. How the text was later changed and explained (as you do here) completely twists and misunderstands the original meaning of the writer for some petty reasons. First, "an angel of the Lord" had to be invented, because later Christians were uncomfortable with the fact that other gods and miracle work outside that of Jesus were present in the world at the time, and in the story. Of course, with that addition, the story now makes no sense: Why would Jesus have to intervene on matters in his _own_ temple? And why would Jesus later state to the man "sin no more"? What was the sin the man had committed? You see, the story is _originally_ about pagans worshipping the wrong gods, and to make Jesus look superior to Asclepius, by taking care of the man who couldn't get in the pool first. And the _sin_ the man committed, was seeking the aid of the _false_ god Asclepius. It is both ironic and sad, that most Christians today have no idea about the original meaning of their own scripture.

0.25 "the earliest copies".... Copies that were not used by the church for a reason. ALL copies of scripture were saved even if they were damaged or misprints. The copies that the church used from the destruction of Jerusalem and Judah in AD 70 were used heavily by the church. They were worn out daily. They had to be printed as fast as they could be to be spread across countries to churches by hand mail. Some people who carried these scriptures were killed as martyrs and copies destroyed. Copies that were known to be error were not used. Before 100 years ago and "higher criticism" of Holy Scriptures was becoming popular (a Satanic move I believe) we had the scriptures for 300 years, preserved, by God and the world was given God's Word FREELY. This older manuscripts nonsense makes me sick. It is purely "Pharisee, Saducee and scribe hypocrisy" reborn. And God will judge. The story in John was not about being "clean for service" but being supernaturally healed by miraculous intervention. These were desperate people who needed the supernatural surrounding this pool. It is sad to see the message of our God (Old Testament physical church conversion to true life in Christ, God in the flesh in New Testament, fulfillment of ALL scripture) turned into a feel good human resources symbolic "story". 🤢🤮 What will the Pharisees try to remove from scriptures next?

I don't buy the thing about "older manuscripts don't mention the angel". Regardless of what text you use, all are copies of copies. I believe the KJV is correct and the text it was taken from got this right where the others left it out by error. Why ? Because of this question. What is supernatural about the water moving from the north pool to the south pool that would cause people to be miraculously healed ? NOTHING ! However, an angel stirring the water is a supernatural intervention which absolutely could result in miraculous healing.
