The heart of ESS - installation of the Target Wheel and Moderator

This is a really exciting point in the project that was first proposed in 1988 fronted by national laboratories in the UK and Germany. Sweden was chosen as the site in 2009 and the project itself began. Here we are as 2023 comes to a close and we are approaching the end of the beginning…. First neutrons! There is still a significant road ahead before full commissioning but I am proud to have played my part in driving this project towards reality. Well done one and all in reaching this significant milestone!
