Paul's passage in 1 Cor. 15 is the most compelling one in support of the truth of the resurrection of Christ. For indeed no one would live a life of sacrifice, suffering, humiliation, deprivation, loss of honor, rejection, pain and then violent death for the sake of a lie. To add to the strength of the argument the testimony came from Paul, the former nemesis of the Christian Faith. He could not be accused of engaging in cognitive dissonance or a state of denial for the loss of a love one for he hated Christ and his followers before he was converted to the faith upon seeing in person the resurrected Christ. Nor can he be accused of preaching the gospel to acquire wealth, sexual favor or power for he chose to live a life deprived of wealth, honor, position and he remained a bachelor. The same can be said of James, the biological brother of the Jesus, who believed that Jesus was someone who had lost his sanity but who later became the leader of the Jerusalem Church.
