Gate gate parasamgate Bodhi Shava. The heart sutra says that nothing exists for a Bodhisattva except the single moment they are in, as it is the only thing that truly exists anyway, whether Bodhisattva or not. All else is an illusion, according to the sutra. Thought you would like to know.

Bodhi Svaha English: Gone, Gone, Gone beyond Gone utterly beyond Gone, Gone, Gone beyond Gone utterly beyond Gone, Gone, Gone beyond Gone utterly beyond Oh what an Awakening - Gate means gone. Gone from suffering to the liberation of suffering. Gone from forgetfulness to mindfulness. Gone from duality into non-duality. Gate gate means gone, gone. Paragate means gone all the way to the other shore. So this mantra is said in a very strong way. Gone, gone, gone all the way over. In Parasamgate sam means everyone, the sangha, the entire community of beings. Everyone gone over to the other shore. Bodhi is the light inside, enlightenment, or awakening. You see it and the vision of reality liberates you. And svaha is a cry of joy or excitement, like "Welcome!" or "Hallelujah!" "Gone, gone, gone all the way over, everyone gone to the other shore, enlightenment, svaha !"

What I think is the most awesome part of Deva Premal is that she has invented a whole new genre of music.I am new to the world of Hindu chants and very lucky that the first time I heard the gayatri mantra was her rendition of it.I had no idea that she (and Miten) had created the melody of this her most intimate of chants that was sung to her in her mother's womb and that she sang it to her father in his last moments on earth.Hearing other chants of this mantra are not nearly as sweet and moving!

I studied a translation of Hakuin 's interpretation of the Heart Sutra , "Zen Words For The Heart " for months , while still fully committed to my own Buddhist practice ( the chanting of Nam- my-oho - renge - kyo ). One of the lessons that I had gleaned from that book that was not taught to us as yet but was soon to be part of our study was the concept of the chain of causation and dependent origination : EVERYTHING ,EVERYWHERE , FOR ALL TIME is connected and interrelated .
