I believe this is a NATO operation with Sirsky finally the Ukraine general who has totally bought into NATO tactics, with NATO Command finally getting their experimental battle data they thought they'd get on the southern front last summer. Classic maneuver tactics today south west of Mikhailovka - they just made contact with the flank of the Russian force in that area at Nizhnemakhovo. Watching closely for further insights.

I wonder if this is partly why the Kursk response seems limited by RF. They might see Pokrovsk as the focus to get this mess over with. I don't think they'll have the support or steam left to go after Odessa if they do reach the Dnieper though, Nato won't allow that anyways. If that's the truth, then it rises morale, especially after the defeats in the Donetsk area (remember that New York fell yesterday?), if it's embelished, it also rises morale anyhow and should hurt the enemy's morale somewhat. In either case it also helps to secure support from NATO: "let's not negotiate yet, there are important battles being fought and we're winning big deal in one of them".

More men and equipment than was required previously will now be necessary to funnel to this new front on a daily basis and they were already running out back when there was no Kursk front. This new front will not be closed even after they are kicked out either, Russians will go straight to Sumy so this is now a permanent issue draining their remaining stocks at an ever faster rate. They'll cry and screach that this is cope if you confront them with this reality for now but they're gonna find out the hard way over the course of next year why this was a big mistake for them and what exactly it was that they sacrificed for this PR stunt.

@user-ex3gp7sr8f The Ukrainians managed to build up a new offensive force just like the one they constructed post Kharkov and Kherson offensives for the 2023 offensive of theirs. It took them around a year but they managed to cobble together just enough so that they could catch the Russians offgaurd and advance in the least guarded section of teh whole frontline if they so wished to, anywhere else and they would've hit the wall hard just like they did last year which is why they attacked where they did. It wasn't about the power plant, it was about them being to weak to launch a successful attack anywhere where the Russian army was numerous enough and well dug in. The plan is simply to grab as much as they can in the early weeks then hunker down as long as possible in some vague attempt at inflicting humiliation or morale damage, there is no clear goals beyond that and should they completely fail to affect tge Russians morale and determination which will almost certainly be the case it's going to become a huge black hole for them that'll make progress easier and faster across the entire rest of the front. We won't be seeing the full effects of that until either winter or summer time though probably.

If the Ukies were really going to dig defensive lines in their Kursk border raid they would have had the necessary equipment ready to move in before they started. Why would commanding general held a press conference to layout mapping of his troops position in hostile zone of combat? His troops suffered heavy losses, lack basic supplies and many surrendered already. He needs a morale booster and is counting on various mapping channels to spread his propaganda. Looking from a distance it appears that Ukrainian offensive has fizzled already and there is no coordinated plan how to move forward and no coherent defensive strategy. Individual pockets of resistance are being destroyed daily and light infantry is hiding in forests and in some homes. Will they last till November? Very unlikely.
