Clayton, you’ve got a fan for life, just from this one song! I’m currently watching my 32 yr marriage crumble around me. Subtle signs of cheating for about 6-8 months and right around our 32 anniversary in March, she said she was tired of our marriage and wanted a divorce. After raising 3 young men, 2 were twins, and going through the ups and downs that come with raising children, while keeping a roof over your head and the lights on, this hit me like Tyson! But I’m not begging anyone to love me. If the embers are cold in her mind, I don’t want to be around someone who doesn’t truly give it their all. This song is so beautiful and so rare for one to still care that much for the other, that they want them to be truly happy even after the heartbreak. In my situation, I don’t feel this way, simply because what I had to endure from a psychotic covert narcissist with BPD for 32 years because I didn’t want my sons to grow up hating me for leaving and I felt it was my responsibility to guide them through their young lives. Sadly I exchanged my internal happiness for the sake of my children and now that my life is in the sundown years, I feel as though I’ve been cheated out of 32 yrs. This song is extremely relatable. Last year I was friends with two people that were dating. I worked with the the boyfriend at the time. We weren’t close but we talked at work. I didn’t talk much to his girlfriend much just got a vibe from her so didn’t talk much. And I seen a post on her Facebook that she was depressed and it was concerning coming from someone who has personally lived through a suicide attempt. We started hanging out and grew really close. We would go out to eat , movies, and we’d drive through the river bottoms hitting every mud hole we could and park under the bridge and pass out with her laying her head on my chest listening to the radio. But they got back together. Before her it’d been three years since I’d been involved with anyone since my last girlfriend took her own life in 2018. But I texted him and told him he was going to lose her and I told him what all she had told me and how to fix things and just as many things I could think of I knew that just made her light up like no other by the time I was done I was in tears. To care so much about someone that you want to see them happy even if it’s with someone else. Luckily for me. Two days later I was going to Nashville to get my teeth looked at turns out I need all of them cut out before I can do my heart surgery but she wanted to go with me. She knew everything was getting to me and she wanted to support me. She’d broken up with him again. And by the time we stopped in Knoxville I just couldn’t handle it. I didn’t want to risk losing a friend like her but I couldn’t stay silent. I’ve had different girlfriends but I never broke down to the point I cried trying to hold feelings back. And the best thing I did was tell her because she kissed me and told me she felt the same way. We drove into gatlinburg and made it back to southern Indiana all within 24 hours. We’ve been married now 6 months and have a baby due in September. I’m sorry your situation didn’t have a similar outcome. But there’s someone out there for you. You have a good heart it takes a lot out of a person to put that kind of love out there.

Wow. I totally get this song. I am 54 yrs old & I have been in love with my ex for 37 years. I think of him everyday & have for 37 years. No matter who I was with, my heart has always been his. When we broke up, it nearly killed me. But I let him go bcuz I wanted him to be happy in life. If I couldn't make him happy, I wanted him to find someone that did. It hurt me so bad, but I really loved him so it was more important. I have never stopped loving him tho.

This is a great song... I lost my husband, my best friend of almost 23 yrs. I'm talking to another guy now, trying to see if we even fit, I keep finding myself telling him all the things my husband already knew about me. I told him " I should have come with a Warning, a Manual, some sort of direction guide..." So basically in my situation, my husband told me before he died he didn't want me to give up on love, and honestly it would have been easier if he had left a note like this... Because it's hard to open up again

I absolutely love this song. This is something that is rare, you don't see this very often with my generation sadly. I often wish to have been born in an older generation but it's songs like this that give me hope. Even though I'm only 19, for some reason this song speaks to me, and I absolutely adore this song. Didn’t make it through my first year of marriage with my husband, but I sure hope that once he overcomes the bitterness he has towards me, he can realize that I loved him like this from the moment we met to the moment he cheated on me, and always will have some sort of love for him in my heart, we do have a son together and I hate that it ended the way it did but we were young and mistakes were made.
