Diggle Diaries: An attempt to film all daylight running freight and interesting workings from Diggle Junction. Situated on the picturesque Trans-Pennine, Manchester to Huddersfield and Leeds route, Diggle Jn lies at the top of a steep incline leading into Standedge Tunnel. Providing beautiful scenery, varied freight and trains working hard up the hill, there aren’t many better places for a bit of trainspotting.

I would love to see shunter shunting old parcel vans at Diggle again, I wished they would reopen Clegg street railway shed in Oldham and shunt parcel vans , I didn’t see much of that when I was a kid , I really missed a lot.

Hi Luke. I've just stumbled across the fact that in 1923, there was a fatal crash at Diggle Junction. Worth looking up if any of your subscribers are unfamiliar with the incident.

Hi mate, yeah it sounds like it was a pretty bad one from the various bits and bobs you can still find around the web. Put down to driver/signaller error apparently.

Another brilliant vid, thanks! Looks like the electrifcation works are growing larger on each edition of the diary. Seems like a lot of trees/shrubbery have been sacrificed in this edition?

Thanks a lot Phil, there’s been a lot of chopping going on down the other side. I think they’re trying to make the entry road to the yard a bit more suitable for bringing in heavy machinery. Hopefully they at least trim some of the trees in the way of the cam! Haha.

Thanks mate, we get a lot because we’re the quickest route between Freightliner’s main East and West depots, lots of other operators use FL’s wheel lathe in Leeds for tyre turning too 👍🏻

@@DiggleJunctionYes the British built our railways, i came from a railway family in the 1980s i used to work for SAR, Most of our Old Steam engines were British build locos, do love the Modern British trains Too!
