Hypothetically, the coordinators were the problem last year that lead to the Eagles falling off. Nick identified the problem, and apparently found the right guys to right the ship. He's also kept the team on course to still compete to win the division or at least a wildcard. This is a bigger deal than whatever game management decisions he might need to clean up. This was a big win for the Eagles because it was the first time the offense looked like it should look IMO. Take down the Commanders in 2 weeks and everything is still in play.
@jay62moon24 күн бұрын
But was it the coordinators… it came out last year it was Nicks plays with Brian calling them. Same things we saw in 21 before we got the oc for 22(Super Bowl) we saw last year and trickled into this year, The lions are so good because they have the same oc and dc as the past few years(it works and it’s gelled) if you lose Ben Johnson next year which seems more then likely, expect a much different success then last year and this year
@SherlockMaholmes24 күн бұрын
@@jay62moon I'm a bit heartened by the fact that when DC took the job he hired Anthony Lynn who had been the HC of the Chargers. Halfway through year one DC fired Lynn and took over the play calling himself. Dan Campbell has never been an OC or DC and yet the team played much better. Ben Johnson was already on staff in Detroit (TE coach) when DC got the job and he kept him on having worked with him in Miami. DC brought BJ into the offensive planning and throughout the year DC trusted him more. The next season the media was asking him who was going to call the plays, him or BJ. If you listen to DC's initial knee biting presser, he spells out all the things he believes in when it comes to game plan and his teams will always have those core values. I'm sure there will be some struggles, but I'm not at all worried as long as MCDC is in the house.

Two awful calls made it way closer for no reason. Is it nicks fault the refs missed jalen clearly breaking the line to gain for the first 2 point conversion? Or the missed contact on Barkley that jags housed for 8 points? How about that? It's a bad take.

Nick is easily the worst coach imaginable. Who goes for it on 4th down repeatedly, for no reason, and then once the other team gets it close, he then finally elects to kick a near 60 yarder giving the other team great field position. Going for 2 pt conversions for no reason....it's insane. He nearly gave it away just like the Atlanta game. The Eagles win despite Nick Sirianni. I’m probably in the minority here, but I don’t think it’s a “Fire Sirianni” situation. It’s a “Lurie, PLEASE do something about Sirianni” moment. It’s indisputable that Sirianni’s relationship with the team is effective. Not just the winning record, but the bond between him and the team. Firing him, especially now, would be throwing the baby out with the bath water and can potentially torpedo our season . But SOMEBODY needs to reel him in, and perhaps give him parameters as to when he’s allowed to go “balls to the wall” aggressive like he did yesterday. i.e. if the 1st 2-pt conversion doesn’t work, the next 2 attempts have to be field goals. Or save 4th and long aggressiveness for when we’re up by 3 scores, etc. Idk. Something. This team is too special to risk not getting the getting to the SB over idiotic play calling.

Dan Campbell did this last season in the Lions NFC Championship loss to the 49ers. Lions had the Niners on the ropes but a bunch of failed 4th down attempts put them in the game. I think it’s now clear that he’s learned and doesn’t have anything to prove. That’s what scares me about the Lions because they learn from previous mistakes. Eagles are gonna have to lose a playoff game off of Nick’s antics in order for there to be changes.

I disagree with the fools gold comment. Before the bye, we had a terrible turnover differential, Hurts had one or two turnovers a game, offense wasn’t scoring enough, defense looked up and down, and play calling was terrible. It’s been the complete opposite since after the bye week. Can’t wait to see what Nick says because the Eagles truly dominated the jags all game played too much and kept them hanging around should’ve had that Lions/Titans treatment Sirianni, refs and injuries certainly can determine that lol

The refs yes. But they let their foot off the gas and too many points was left out there.
