Yay for 3K! Your discussion of how the different leathers impact how the color displays is very helpful. This is so true, but rarely discussed in comparing the leathers. I have a blue bag in Evercolor and the vibrancy of the color is stunning. It clearly pops more than Togo and even Epsom leather. The best leathers for color vibrancy to me are Evercolor, Swift and Clemence. However, all three of those leathers are soft, so they do not wear the same as Togo and Epsom. Each leather they offer have different strengths and I like different kinds for different bags. Great video!

I have a B30 in tadelakt and I totally agree it scratches very easily, but the upside is that it’s really thick and will hold its shape forever and does really well at the spa where they can buff out scratches so every 5-10 years u can take it to the spa and you pretty much get a brand new bag. Tadelakt also takes color very beautifully. Mines in electric blue and is really stunning. I had a b40 in clemence too and it was so heavy so I sold it.

Hi! I’m a new subscriber and new to the Hermès luxury world. I appreciate this video so so much! It’s exactly what I needed to get started. I come from the Louis Vuitton House and wanted to branch into other fashion houses. I saw on another channel the Hermès change purse and thought, “that’s a cool little piece” and then saw all the leathers and it blew my mind LOL. Now I know where to start AND I know where to start on my first bag - Birken or Kelly - not to mention my first name is Kelly too :). Great video, and looking forward to more. I love Chèvre leather...it’s very durable & has shiny to it. I can feel it inside my B30 & K28. Unfortunately, all my B30, K28, and C18 are in Epsom! Now I really want B25 in Togo or Chèvre 😉 I wonder what kind of leather lining in C18? It’s sooo buttery smooth🤔 Congrats on hitting 3K!🎉 I also love watching you with the positive vibes, smile & laugh you show in the video, it brightened up my day 💕

Such an informative video! I have a vintage retourne Kelly in box leather (it's older than me - it's 48 yrs old!), which I bought in a French vintage shop several years ago. I brought it to my SA who told me to just massage the spot with my finger when it gets scratched and it should fade and be less noticeable. I use it all the time and do not even baby it but it still looks as good as when I first bought it (the previous owner barely used it so it was in excellent condition). I also often use it when I'm wearing casual outfits with just a plain tee and blue jeans. It doesn't look 'formal' at all. It's v soft like butter and shiny! I'm looking into the vintage market again to get myself another Kelly in box leather but in a different size and colour.

How about the lovely Barenia and Barenia Faubourg? We need a part 2! 😆 Side note: the lining of the bags is made of chèvre marocain and the outside in chèvre Mysore (de Coromandel in the past) Similar but Mysore is of higher quality and sheen ;)

I was gonna ask about this too 😅. I want a birkin 30 in barenia or faubourg but I honestly don’t know the difference, I just know they are brown or tan 😅😂

@@lexxelestine the main difference is that Barenia Faubourg is grainy and classic Barenia is buttery smooth (super water resistant and scratches can be buffed out with the pad of your fingers). Barenia develops over time a beautiful patina, and is not a leather for anyone who like their bag to look like the day they bought it... it will show scratches and will darken over time. Not a least her for everyone 😅 I have recently acquired a k25 in Barenia and waiting for the patina to fully develop ;) Barenia Faubourg is my personal favorite, I love the sheen. I also want a b30 or b35 (as a travel bag). This leather is, due to its grainy texture, quite scratch resistant (scuff marks can be buffed out too). Contrary to popular belief Faubourg is also quite water resistant. Will also darken slightly over time (turn into more of a cognac color) . All in all they are both gorgeous leathers 😍

Hi Lily! 🥰 - So if it were me personally and i had to pick which leather for a white or cream colour i'd definitely go for epsom as my top choice and chevre as a close second - Epsom is fantastic when it comes to water resistance and you can always use a damp cloth to wipe it down because the water wont absorb into the leather 🥰💕 xx

I want to get a Kelly 28. I’m torn between Epsom (head) or box (heart). Kelly is black box is just so super classic, but Epsom is more durable and resistant to scratches…. Hmm

Ooooooo, that is a tricky one....Is it your first bag? Box is absolutely stunning, but you're right durability wise Epsom is soooo much better...I would say think of how much you plan on using the bag and if you're someone that HATES seeing your bag scratched, then maybe its better to go for epsom first... Are there two different types of chèvre? I got offered a bag in rose Sakura and it was in chèvre and felt plasticy,, I was like I said I liked all leathers but I actually don’t like this oops. So I turned it down 😳 the inside of my bags don’t feel like that. And it has a sheen to it where it looks like there’s a film on it.

Swift leather actually is not that scratchable! I have zero scratches on my Kelly which I used several times! And the colours are beauuuutiful. In a smaller size it also doesn't slouch too much!
