Yeah the extended zodiac is interesting as a fun fan thing but I don't think it should be viewed as a complete understanding of the aspects. It's clearly meant as a personality test for people who haven't necessarily read Homestuck with some references sprinkled in. Furthermore, it doesn't really talk about any of the narrative prophecy stuff that the titles are known for. Not the best place to get information on the aspects even if it is canon. At most I can say that it reveals the opposing pairings with the canon wheel of aspects. There's also the fact that personality tests in general provide inaccurate results as a person can answer differently if they wait a few weeks and take the test again. My friend says that because the descriptions on the extended zodiac have such specific references to what the characters in Homestuck do, that the characters were created first and aspects were created after the fact just to mold them to those characters. I think that's not only more difficult but takes away from what the aspects mean in the story itself. I think those kind of misunderstandings could result if we take the descriptions of the extended zodiac at face value. (Also friendo if you're reading this sorry for the vaguepost it was just too funny)

I basically agree, yeah. The descriptions are demonstrably not meant to tell us everything about Aspects or dreaming moons, since Hussie's gone into considerably more depth on both either in the comic itself (Light doesn't mention Luck) or through old formspring/tumblr posts (the influence that Lunar Sways exert on Active/Passive alignment aren't mentioned either). But I don't regard that as a writing flaw, because it's not what the test was going for. This is an introduction to the subject that gives us some new info on the system, not the final word on it.

@@optimisticDuelist yeah, the questions on the test are also fairly simplistic. each aspect pair gets two questions that are devoted to figuring out your affinity for one or the other. literally, questions 1 and 2 discern breath/blood, 3 and 4 discern light/void, 5 and 6 discern time/space, 7 and 8 discern heart/mind 9 and 10 discern hope/rage, and 11 and 12 discern life/doom. if you choose "A" on the first and second questions, and then choose the neutral answer on every other question, you will get breath. if you choose "E" on the first and second questions, and then choose the neutral answer on every other question, you will get blood. and so on and so forth. and honestly, a lot of the dichotomies that the questions posit are false ones. I only got life as my aspect because one of the life/doom questions was the only one I had a very strong opinion about, and it was because the rest of the questions left me feeling really ambivalent. it wasn't that I didn't have strong opinions about the questions posed... it was just that I didn't feel so black and white about them that I could side one way or another. I personally feel much more connected to blood as my aspect, but the breath/blood questions would never reflect that because I also think that my class is rogue. a blood player may have a focus on the collective, but a rogue will have a detachment from artificial systems and/or society at large... which could contribute to my answers for the breath/blood questions being more neutral than opinionated. and I think that's something that you have to keep in mind as you search for the particular class/aspect pair that suits you. your class and aspect will play off of each other, and one might modify the other in a way that makes you seem different than the basic, generic description of either.

The results you get should be accurate more than they are meant to be consistent. Considering we have a tendency to change over time, gain new skills, and new perspectives, its to be expected that the way we see our titles will change as we do, with the exception of blood color, which is based on our zodiac signs. My recommendations from being an enthusiast of astrology, is that we use our ascendant sign to determine our blood color. In astrology, the ascendant is all about the core of the personality, not just how others percieve us. In tarot, many people may not realize this but when you are choosing a general-pick-a-card reading, you should be paying attention to your ascendant sign. Theres a reason for this that definitely correlates, but I cant remeber all the details right this moment. Sometimes I think the canon test is most useful as an introduction to the system itself, and we should try to understand which title we have as we learn more about the system over time. The test is an introduction, not the whole shindig. Recognizing and simplifying the components down as much as possible so we get to the core of who we really are and whats most consistent about us. I see Prospitians as Optimists and Dersians as Pessimists. Its relatively easy to group yourself in with one of the moons based on that simplification at least.

Minor epiphany I had about Space and Time: they both have control over some part of sexuality. Space covers attraction and Time covers displaying crudeness and impropriety. Think about our space players: Jade, Kanaya, Porrim, and Calliope. Jade, the Witch of Space, had at least four boys with some kind of attraction to her; Kanaya, Sylph of Space, was constantly playing the auspistice; Porrim, Maid of Space, describes her lovelife as a "well-greased revolving door"; and Calliope, Muse of Space, disguises herself because she worries others will find her ugly. Now let's look at our Time players: Dave, Aradia, Damara, and Caliborn. Dave, Knight of Time, is constantly spouting over-the-top vulgarity for a variety of reasons including getting people to leave him alone; Aradia, Maid of Time, is occupying a deadly robot body built by a boy who probably gets off to being beaten up by robots; Damara, Witch of Time, does the same as Dave but goes even more extreme and is more effective with it; and Caliborn, Lord of Time, calls Jane a whore and has Dirk draw him "porn" that's only sexual in that it's stuff he has weird fantasies with.

Okay i'm still not completely sold on the space part, but I think the time part is fine. In fact now that i'm thinking about it I think this could tie into Jung's ideas on instincts as he believed humans experienced five types of it Hunger, sexuality, activity, reflection, and creativity in particular sexuality, with the little information on aspects that we have we could definitely ascribe one of these drives/instincts to them and vice versa.

You are completely right. But it is not limited to sexuality, actually. Even generally, Space is connected to order, beauty and harmony, while Time is connected to things being ugly, crud and "shitty".

Spoiler alert for the epilogues, but after reading Jade's dialogues when hanging out with Dave and Karkat, I find it fitting that the Space Aspect could be related somehow to sexuality and reproduction. I don't know, just saying. Edit: Well, not really reproduction, but there's the point.

Strange...I have an asexual Time-bound troll who can only feel attraction in the caliginous quadrant, and even then she doesn't want to go all the way. She was in a pitch relationship with a Space-bound troll that ended after he forced her to pail against her will. Also of note is that she is a Time-bound Prospit dreamer and he is a Space-bound Derse dreamer when usually it's the other way around.

It doesn't make sense that the Game's central game mechanic, the Aspects, would be centered over a single universe's iteration of the players, and only one instance of the players, since conceivably since thousands (at least) of players of one species can play in a number of alpha timelines, that many species should/would have access to the game as well, and play sessions in the thousands with their own alpha timelines.

Well, the result of the Aspect test isn't affected by blood color. There are equal chances that two "different blooded" people get the same aspect. The test just measures all three stats *separately* and uses them to get a sign for you if you were a troll.

Every time I learn something new about classpecting I go through a self-defining crisis thing. Now I don't know my aspect. I'm a pretty solid page (maybe... I think), but I've gotten a few different things for aspect, between breath (few times), life (once), and light (extended zodiac). So, anyway, can someone aspect me?

Given a Page seems to lack they're Aspect (This can be both physically and mentally, I.E. Tavros being crippled or Jakes dead dream self/loss of hope in general during the session), It really depends on what you seem to lack. In both cases of our canon pages, an outside perspective is super important for them in order to grow and develop. I suppose you should get some extra input on this cause I'm not sure, It's a personal decision in my honest opinion. (edit) Unintentional Rhyme is Unintentional.

If you have trouble creating connections or have few of them, that seems more indicative of the aspect Blood. We do TECHNICALLY have an example of a Page of Breath, but real people are a lot more complicated then fictional fudge-blooded aliens. We could go off of Tavros, but idk how you would feel about that so I dunno. It's really nothing to worry about tbh, It's all in good fun. Trying to figure this stuff out is enjoyable for me. What you choose is ultimately up to you. :P (Hope I don't come across as too pedantic.)

I got Prince of Space. “One who destroys space or destroys through space” Then I think about how I treat my friends. I'd say heart and mind also relate to how people interact with works of fiction. Heart being interpretation and mind being speculation. Interpreting a work is the act of filtering the work through yourself, taking the ideas you like and expanding upon them based off what you like. Nepeta as a character is pretty much completely contained within the fandom, both representing the fandom's interpretive activities through her shipping wall, and dying early and having little character allowing her to be completely defined by fandom. Dirk is seen interacting with the UI of the story directly, destroying Dave's action commands and the text box, positioning himself not only outside the story but in a role to manipulate the story to his will. Its no shock then that in epilogues, which take the form of a fanfic, Dirk has become so powerful, as his domain IS lack of canonicity to the original. Speculation meanwhile is the act of personally attempting to deduce the direction the story is going. Once again filtering the work through yourself, but in an attempt to understand what is true about the work and not alter it. Terezi observes the possibility-space the story could take through her ability, all the choices the characters make and the potential futures those create, essentially her power is creating fan theories.

I wasn't a big fan of the actual test (the prospit and derse descriptions confuse me because I can see elements of both in me) And the aspect section of the test was too short and felt... rushed? The aspect descriptions are nice (but need a little more of a description) and mine fit me pretty nicely even tho I didn't get it on the test. IMO that might be because the Time aspect is necessary to a Sburb session (time travelling, scratch, etc) whereas that isn't the case for Doom.

Sylph of Life here, I take a lot of this stuff as an analytical insight rather than a full blown truth, Hussie did make the True Zodiac Quiz so it acts as a Canon-esque Source, I wouldn't discount it. I've used these videos by OptimisticDuelist as a guideline to the baseline abilities and sources of the godtier powers, I think he's insightful. Wether or not he's right or wrong, is dependent on your perspective, however I still wouldn't discount it. Thank you Commenter's for your time.

Rage is technically not purely "meanness", but it mainly uses negative emotions as a tool, a fuel for motivation. It can definitely be used in productive ways. Thepageofhopes, the tumblr user (land of celebration and bells) sees it more as 'tension' or willingness to spring into action, in her test anyway.

Well, meanness is irrelevant to rage really. Anyone can be mean, and what's considered mean is pretty subjective anyway. Rage is about the truth and a kind of rebellion or subversion of what's acceptable, what's normal, what's stable. I personally see rage as being the aspect of people who are truly non conformist and who'd be critical of what's there. This is only partially related to this comment, by the way, but I think the idea of positive and negative emotions themselves makes little sense, since in small doses and if expressed appropriately, a 'negative' emotion can actually be quite good for you.

Honestly I kind of hate the canon test. Maybe I’m just salty because I didn’t get the aspect I thought I was(void) but that was expected since there were a few aspects I related to, but idk I always liked the mystery of classpect. There were so many options and none had a canon concrete description, unlike others stories which already had very few options already and canon quizzes that could never put me into a category. Like with hogwarts houses, the pottermore quiz always put me in a different house and when I took he quiz with ALL the questions, I had pretty evenly chose questions that corresponded with each house. But homestuck didn’t have that, it was all fan interpretation or just your own interpretation. There were so many classpect combinations that it would be impossible to fit into each one. I could probably ramble about this forever so let’s leave it at that.

The key thing for me is that the Aspect descriptions in the test aren't exhaustive. For example, the Light description doesn't mention Luck at all, and we know Fortune is part of Light from the comic. There's more depth to all the Aspects, the test just gives us new context on the *personalities* of those bound to each Aspect. I personally feel that Homestuck has been pretty clear about what each Class and Aspect mean/can do, so I wouldn't say it's all fan interpretation. Instead I'd say Homestuck presents the system largely through references and context clues, and leaves it to fans to figure out what's being said where--sort of like Dark Souls' approach to storytelling. That said, I think the system that *is* in the comic allows for essentially infinite fan creativity, and that's why I'm so invested in talking about it here. I think there's a lot of potential to uncover!

See, it's funny. I did the classpect quiz when I'd JUST gotten into Homestuck, and I got Mage of Light through my bumbling. A few months later, I did it again with more knowledge of the questions, and got Mage of Heart. I did it a third time last week and got Mage of Wind. I have a feeling I'm a Mage... it depends highly on the kind of answers you yourself give, rather than it being based on the test itself. When it comes to self analysis, especially through tests like these, having consistent answers that don't deviate over time based on your thoughts of the provided scenarios is guaranteed to get the same answer so long as you have a clear awareness of what it is you actually would do/believe in. Your results do not reflect who you are, who you are reflects your results. If a part of you changed enough to have an effect, how you answer these questions will also change. Realistically, either you're not paying full attention to the questions themselves, or you're having difficulty in establishing who you are as a person to the point you haven't given much thought to your actions, being indecisive. I had the same problem, before I got a better grasp at what it was I actually felt or wanted to say, as I would dart from one classpect to another like neurons sending a message through a person's nerve system while multitasking. Eventually I decided to stick to Seer of Life, because I've always been a seer realistically, from the literal future sight via dreams, to having an innate sense of knowing about things and what actions to take in response. Life-bound seems to come up the most whenever I did the test, switching between life and mind really.

Hi! I'm confused about your heart definition having the "persona" keyword. The persona is the image that you project to people, it's the character you create and the role you play in the eyes of other. So I would have thought that this specific keyword would have been more suited for the mind aspect. The heart aspect being more likely linked to the "personality". Edit: I re-read the official definition of heart and it says that the heart bound is very concerned with the creation of a strong "self" so maybe that's why you wrote this. But you also said that mind is about how you present yourself to others so more confusion for me haha

I took the test and everything turned out just like I expected it to be: apparently I'm on the prospit side (knew it, can't imagine myself to be a derse persone) and my aspect is Life. I couldn't decide on my aspect for a long time but now everything really matches up. Except one thing: can a Life player have no money or so? I guess I just lack some lifey powers.

Absolutely. I don't think it makes any sense to limit things on those terms. It's worth pointing out that the Aspects are incredibly broad and multifaceted. Players don't necessarily embody every trait an Aspect is associated with, it's more like a big box of ideas that the player might have access to.

So I figure this video was the best place to post this revelation I had about Karkat last night at about 2 am, since I don't have a Tumblr So in the Game Over timeline, our crab boy Vantas dies by falling into lava, a very hot liquid (obviously) His aspect is Blood Additionally, Karkat is known for his almost constant state of anger, or in other words, his blood is always boiling. This is probably kind of late, but when you were talking about Heart, you mentioned something called "Platonic Ideals". I was unsure whether or not I understood what you meant by that, so after googling around for a bit: Is this like the perfect apple-thing you mentioned in Alchemy Part 1? Because if that's the case, I have to wonder: Why are Perfectly Generic Objects associated with Void rather than Heart? I mean, a Perfectly Generic Object is basically the platonic ideal of, well, objects, right?

To me at least, a perfectly generic object is the most perfect representation of Void there is (Aside from literally nothing). it's an object completely absent of any real unique defining characteristics, importance or associated information. It has, in a sense, a complete *absence of light*

I think that's the point as well. I think the way Roxy made things was by first stealing the nonexistence of nothing in particular, as if changing a zero to a one in a binary driven system and then gradually adding characteristics by removing their nonexistence in a "double negative" sort of way. A perfectly generic object is essentially a 3D space point(in the geometrical definition). At least that's what I got from it. In this way, Roxy is essentially editing the universe's code.

I will admit, I flip-flopped a lot on my classpect after the Extended Zodiac Quiz came out. I took it a few times just to really make sure. I got Prospit every time and My most common aspect was Light. While this is pure speculation, I think your lunar sway might have a bearing on weather or not your class is Active or Passive. dahniwitchoflight.tumblr.com/post/57785807236 for reference but you can take it with a grain of salt. That being said It helped me narrow down my class selection from 10 (minus Sylph/Maid) to 5. I wracked my brain for a while but honestly, I think the Rogue class is still the most accurate descriptor in my opinion. so yeah, Rogue of Light. (Edit) Took the fanmade class test and got Rogue anyway. cool I guess.

Well, I think they are representative of Narrative Mastery, how things fit together in the terms of the abstract geometric sense (similar to Space and Time i guess), and Plot Corruption (when the plot is taken over and entire arcs are aborted for the sake of new ones) respectively.

I agree that there is a lot to say about the Classes and Aspects from a Jungian point of view. It is interesting that you did not even get close to what I thought. Rather than write a whole paper, I am just going to say that Rage is to Shadow (and the Id to some extent) as Mind is to Persona (and the Superego to some extent).

i find this interesting because i'm a Rouge of Void. but if i had a choice i'd be a knight of void because while i hit every point of the rouge, i find myself leaning towards Knight because i happen to serve others more than myself. so if i were to imagine my own Void aspect it would probably fit both in a way to help others and myself in the same way. perhaps some form of summoning things like how Roxy can with those cool thingies she does. (i don't wanna call it grist cause i'm not sure if t is) i always found it to either be the ability to portal items, or perhaps my Void powers would let me increase my speed to protect others or steal things more easily. idk i'm kinda just shooting ideas i personally see. not quite sure if it would work that way though...

Although he won't agree with it, the knight class is the counter class of the rogue. The rogue has a tendency to Robin hood through life, giving their spoils to others and taking none for themselves. So the opposite concept of one who takes void would be one who serves everything (light)

I think that the reason for why a lot of people got a different aspect is because of time. We all change and our perception of ourselves changes as well. Maybe if you could take this test at the time when you discovered your aspect, you'd get the same result as you hoped for? Another thing is *Persona* . And I'm not talking about the game, but rather the term in Jungian psychology that inspired it. We all have different facets of our personalities. For example, on one level I'm a Hope player. However, I'm also a Rouge of Mind. Your God Tier is just determined by the largest and most prominent facet. Kind of like the first Persona you'd get in the Metaverse ;) I think that at the core of it, *aspects* are the main parts of our personality and *classes* are the way we use them to interact with the world. These both tend to be changed by time and the group we are near.

I finally learned what my classpect is. Ironically I'm a Gempia and a page of light. I fucking hate yellow. Lol. I was always convinced I knew what I was talking about, even when i was still alt right. I have come a long way. And i am convinced I am right still. But I know I could be wrong, and I want to be right. Its whats most important to me. And i was always enthralled by things that light up. I am nocturnal, I love riding under city lights, and again, knowledge is important to me. I am a reformist rather than a radical, so that's part of why I'm convinced I'm a page. I just couldnt work as a knight. Also, to add, I am a support player in most games I play. I even try to be the role of "crafter" in public minecraft servers. I can see myself spending hours just messing with the alchemizer lol

I have a theory on how aspects interact with other aspects, i ordered them in a compass with time space void and light being the Cardinal points due to them having the strongest meaning and all other aspects exist on a spectrum between them, 2 aspects in between the Cardinal with each having a greater influence on one in-between for doom and life it seems interchangeable the points but always putting them in between time and void (doom), and light and space (life) due to their destruction and creation connotations blood seems to be time and light with closer to light for it represents burdens and social connections, and breath is void and space because it represents personal growth separate from others, hope and rage are interchangeable to me also but heart seems to place in the missing spot for time and light and mind space and void
