I was renovating my room and I told my girl friend to play one of those punk records you randomly find on YT. I think it was Alienated from the Vicious or Already Dead from No Problem, I can't remember exactly. But she played this record incidentally. It didn't took me 3 seconds to realize it's a banger. That's 6 or 7 years ago, I'm 40 years old now, listened to tons of music, always looking for a unique kind of music or band. THIS here is one of the best bands I've ever listened to, more underrated than Greg Sage's music. Thanks Atomvinter!

The misfits and the ramones were so good because the punk/hc influence came first,the pop influence came second. That idea was lost in the 90's.
@netflixandburn3 жыл бұрын
Not lost.
@LuckyBastardProd2 жыл бұрын
Huh? Are you not aware that The Ramones’ influences were pop, from The Beach Boys to the work of Phil Spector and, yes, the proto-punk stylings of The Stooges and The MC5. The Misfits were just The Ramones until they came out to LA were there was a thriving HC scene. Now the 90s were cats my age that listened to Kiss, Sabbath and even Boston as little kids in the 70s, then gravitated to punk/HC in the 80s. So what you had in the 90s was a mesh of 70s rock with punk. Shit, Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit has the same riff as Boston’s More Than A Feeling.
@justsomedudeyouknow83722 жыл бұрын
@@LuckyBastardProd Yes i'm aware of all of this you are talking about. I grew up in the 70's. I meant that misfits and ramones were good because there was punk songs with pop influences instead of pop songs with punk influences like 90's bands. Also, nirvana ripped off a lot of bands, including boston, the damned, pentagram,and many others. Come as you are is ripped off from killing joke who ripped off the same rhythm from the damned and so on. Another of nirvana's songs was ripped from a pentagram song called star queen. Most 90's music sucked anyways. You'd be surprised how many nirvana fans have never heard bleach and think smells like was their 1st lp.

@sdm15685 жыл бұрын
I want to like this album, but the violent transphobia in "Young Blood in the River" is too much. There's trans women that are murdered constantly for being trans women, "Look out that woman is a man" just seems really tasteless at a time when all this stuff is happening to a lot of innocent and struggling people and then having people misgendering and justifying their death with panic defenses.
@CagaTio235 жыл бұрын
It's not "Look Out..." it's "Sometimes a woman is a man." It is a cover of a song by Texas band Knife in the Water. It is more of a somber song about a horrible crime committed against a trans woman. Here is the original version. The lyrics are more intelligible in it so you might be able to see the sadness for the main character that underlines the true-crime lyrics- how she has to hide her life from her family, the dangers of sex work, how little effort the cops put into solving the crime. kzbin.info/www/bejne/enWtm3ZjrpWqoKc
@espectrostatic2 жыл бұрын
Completely valid point. It was a cover of a song by Knife in the Water originally released in 2000. It was a dark, tragic song that really resonated with me from a storytelling perspective. It was based on an actual murder if I recall correctly. I believe the intention was to tell the tragic story of this woman's murder as a classic murder-ballad. The misgendering is absolutely not OK. I've learned that since then, and I'm truly sorry if it caused you or anyone else pain or discomfort. Please know that the intention was well meaning, but we stumbled in the execution out of pure ignorance. We are doing a brief reunion in the late summer and will not be playing this song in the set for exactly these reasons. I still greatly admire the artistry of the original song (and of Knife in the Water in general), but completely understand what a massive blind spot we all had in this regard. Again. I'm truly sorry.
