Thank you for this teaching. It awakened memories of my encounter with G-d 30 years ago, after I came to Christ. That morning he showed me 2 young men in a foreign land, and He spoke six words. I felt His breath on the back of my neck. His breath was love. Like when someone takes mint and breaths on you. That was how I learned that G-d was love. He is love, like I am flesh and blood. Probably 20 years ago, we were wrestling with the timing of the calendar. I was getting frustrated with confusion. I was sitting outside in the sunshine, I put all my reading down and Prayed, "I don't care which it is, I just want to do what You want. Please show what is important to You!" About an hour later, I went in, my husband was reading on the couch and said, "You have to come look at this!" He was reading a book revealing the Importance of The Name! It is a very thought provoking and beautiful presentation about the many implications of the יהוה uttered in this fashion. I personally discourage the notion that “name” equates to what we commonly mean when it comes to the Creator because names describe and encapsulate those they are bound to. Yet, the point of the holiest of names being sacred to the point of taboo has more to do with a deep reverent understanding by followers that our God simply cannot be so cleanly parsed, nor any utterance suffice to delineate their divine totality. Not that I mind the topic or take offense of some who repeat their reckoning out-loud during their worshipful emphasis towards using it. I only wish to remind those who would hear: A name rendered absolute unto an unfathomable Being superseding the very reality of everything from obscured heights of heaven does the concept we hold meagerly as humans no justice singled out. God’s name might as well be the empty essential space between the Hebrew alphabet’s letters.
