Totally agree about the disconnect with teaching where 1/2gt^2 comes from. I think there’s a similar problem with learning matrices in high school algebra. I remember learning Cramer’s rule, and that was super confusing because I had never even learned what a matrix is geometrically. This is a very clever way to explain it!

Interesting - I wonder if Minecraft tries to replicate gravity perfectly. If it does, this will work for either launching something perfectly up, perfectly down, or dropping. Adding any kind of angle turns it into a "real" Physics problem you typically learn in high school Physics!
