I have been treated worse in an African country even though with the passport from my home country it should be visa free. I had to argue my case every time. On my return to Sweden I spend 30 seconds and then I hear " Welcome/ welcome home". I have dual citizenship and I am proud of both but I am always ready for anything during my travels. As long as your passport is valid no need to stress, just smile and enjoy the best parts.

Is it possible to acquire knowledge about economics, international politics and geography entirely in English in German libraries, or is it necessary to know German for this knowledge?

Thank you very much for this video. I'm from the US and I'm studying German on my own, but truthfully sometimes I wonder why because I think to speak German well I'd need to live in Germany a certain time and I don't really have a great desire to live in Germany. I traveled through Germany in the late 1970s, and I lived a few years in France and Spain. Actually part of my reason for studying German is I like learning languages, and I was just tired of Romance languages so I wanted something different. All that said, good luck to you. Oh, I'm Afro American. I'll check out more of your content as this was my first time. By the way, a German language learning blog I follow suggested that if people want to learn German, better not to go to Berlin as one will spend all one's time speaking English. I've even thought of studying German in Namibia then I could visit Africa again. Thank you.

I just watched a video that caught my eye titled: Why some skilled immigrants are leaving Germany | DW News. Also I found a KZbin blog by accident that I've been watching a lot lately. The blog is titled My Name is P. Y. and it's about black Germans. the blogger is originally from Ghana and he spent several years in England before moving to Germany not that long ago.

congrats, keep up the spirits !!! it is partly a recognition of your time and contribution in the country and partly your choice to take that legal step of becoming a citizen of the country you want to work and live in. It is unfortunately not a magic wand. I am sorry to hear about the negative unwelcoming experiences and i dont want to discredit anything you went through. From my experience, i see the residence permit status is purely a mark and choice in your personal journey and it is something between you as an individual and the government. It doesnt automatically translate to anything at societal level, neither in favor nor as disadvantage. The sense of belonging , integration and acceptance can not be through your ID card and passport. And definitely it is clear that if someone has been seeing you and treating you like an outsider , its not gona change based on local citizenship. It can only change via interpersonal dynamics and an open inclusive approach to eachother. You dont need the acceptance or validation from the "locals" (whatever that means) for how you belong to the country, you have that on your own via your journey and efforts that are legally recognized. A similar experience of outsider treatment can easily happen to a german from north living in south and vice versa. the identity of being a german for each person is different based on where they were born and how they grew up. If someone doesnt see you belong to germany as they personally feel belonging to germany, thats okay. maybe its even true and avoid taking it personally. you belong to the side of germany that made it possible for you to come in, work in, live in and learn the language and all the social and legal system that goes with it. The other person who might not see you as german, would also not be able to belong to the kind of "being german" that you belong to. To each his own journey and identity. if we all can mutually appreciate and respect the differences in our backgrounds and see what we have in common living in this country, we will move forward to a colorful progressive future driven through diversity , which otherwise would not be possible through a narrow monolithic conservative society. PS: sorry for the novel. got out of hand :D

Waoo your comment is just a pure gold and I would say you sum it up perfectly without any bias whatsoever, personally I am not looking 👀 for any validation about my existence in this country and the reason that makes me talk 🗣️ about it, it’s because of how this country has been projected in too many different ways and constantly using the word like open, diverse, inclusive and many other. On the other hand that’s not the reality.. I do agree with everything you said 💯 and am pointing out the obvious.. Thanks 🙏

Is visa-free traveling the only thing you like about Germany and Germans? Was it the only reason to get the passport?
@BillansDocumentary

I earn my citizenship, it’s not something that is about a feeling. It’s not about like or visa-travelling.. Before Germany 🇩🇪 I have travelled more than 29 countries and Yes with my Nigerian 🇳🇬 passport including Canada 🇨🇦, USA 🇺🇸 and united kingdom 🇬🇧.. I am a citizen and I shouldn’t be questioned about my citizenship..

@@BillansDocumentary It is a simple statistics. Black people are a minority in Germany and everyone knows it. The migration crisis also does not work in your favour. Unfortunately. If you are a true german citizen you read the news and know the problems it creates. So yes, even though it is as an uneasy feeling, just see it in the light of the current situation. Only stopping people from comming illegaly and not leaving will help to relax the situation. It will only get better when everyone you meet in Germany has entered it legaly. Only this situation will solve problems like yours.

@@tosina6641 PPL come to Germany because they want to. Internet is full of stories about racist Germans. So erveryone knows how bad we are here. Why does one need to go to Germany and complain about bad Germans? Living here you know the reality. Love it or leave it. South Africa is also a nice country, same is Camerun or Canada. I do not have to tolerate pepole complaing about my country while they could easily earn a passport else where. I am, Germans are at their home. Everyone is welcome to come but you have to like us. This ist here not the case.

It's also like this in Switzerland. A lot of people say Swiss are nice, and that's true to an extent. But they are also extremely racist and unkind. A Swiss person will greet you on your first day of work and engage in "nice" small talk with you, but then will talk crap about you behind your back and vote for the SVP (the Swiss version of AfD). I'm also fed up of all the foreigners who keep saying the Swiss are not racist even though year after year SVP (racist far right party) keeps winning the majority of Swiss people's votes. Ultimately, if they were actually "nice", they would also be kind, but they're just taught that displaying aggression is bad and everything else is okay.

I also lived in Switzerland 🇨🇭 many years ago and I was always embarrassed because of how some police would just always walk up to me and say they have to check me if I have some drugs on me.. This type of behaviour is very common in Zurich and am talking about around 2012..

You should understand better. If a German comes to Africa with a liegaria passport or any Africa, country .how will your officers react? It's the same anywhere in the world world. I traveled up to 186 countries with my beautiful German passport. Why hundred percent of your liegaria government has to stand on line for visa. And a lot of passports were also lost or stolen. I'm awesome, serticfied with the way they wanna as any questions. Afterward, I was treated like an animal at a liegaria assport international 😂

I think 💭 if this is the kind of narrative you want to promote then you are probably part of the problem, so because people become another country citizen they should be treated like animals because they are not originally from there? Please grow up..

But why would a German need a Nigerian citizenship? A German passport grants you visa free/on arrival to almost all African countries. Stop with the brain dead arguments.

Africans we are the only continent who by have pride in trying to go to another man’s home and believe we should impose our world view. Germans have a right to want reduced immigration. If it is a democratic right. If 1 million Nigerians came to my African country I would want them to not come anymore. Also look at the official statistics for crime, you will not be shocked to find that as immigration trends up crime also trends upwards. Objectivity is totally lacking and you sound like you lost a sense of national pride in your own country and are now embracing the new world order bullshit line of a global citizenry. This is advice from a fellow African, Nationalism is something the Germans are allowed to have and you should stop siding with those who seek to take it away from them because those are the same people destroying Africa and facilitating human trafficking of our African brothers and taking labor out of the continent thus creating subversion in the West and Europe.
