After losing power after several hurricanes, my husband had a Gererac installed in November. I think it has only come on one tine since installation. But we will probably need it during hurricanes season since we live outside Houston, Tx. We have been without power for as long as 2 1/2 weeks after a hurricane. It is not usually that long.

would certainly love to see you use this as your only home power source for those 3 storm days, well pumps, freezers,refrigerators and if you have an electric stove for cooking are brutal on power let alone powering your heat source for the home if it's below freezing outside.

Seems nice to have but all batteries degrade over time, what is the life expectancy of these types of batteries. As an emergency power source this would likely be sitting for long periods of time before needed, possibly years before a power outage, how long would it hold a charge and how long does it take to recharge using the solar panels. Also how does it perform under extreme temps, extended freezing temps or long stretches of 100+ degree days you get in the south. There's also price and power output to consider, just a few things to think about before deciding on this over more traditional generator/power backup options.

I’m thinking, package 2 is a portable battery. You hook it up to the solar panels and let charge. The main generator goes to where you use it and does it’s thing. Then as the power dies you bring in the charged battery and hook it up. It will take the power from that battery to charge. Once the battery is empty, the main gen is charged. You take the battery back to the solar panels and charge again. That way the main generator is always with power.

I was without power for 4 days, they said it was going to be 7. I used a gas generator for the 1st time. Nice to have the power but the noise and the gas it used was not nice. Would love this one but no way I could afford it.

I just use hurricane lamps. Can't afford to buy a really good generator. Loosing power due to storms,snow, or someone's tree falling into the lines.
