This was my Dad's plane. He bought it in 1971 and flew it to Natomas Air Park. He and my Mom owned and operated AMERICAN AERO CLUB. Rio Linda to Natomas. The only plane my Dad would not part with when the club closed down. Now rehomed to someone I know and trust.

I live 15 minutes from Natomas and my dad took his first lessons at Natomas field. What a neat surprise, I can hardly believe I've gone all this time without knowing that airplane existed.

My dad owned #11. I grew up with that plane. This video brought back a lot of memories. When he died, the Smithsonian wanted the plane but my mother refused. It now sits in pieces in my brother's barn since the early 1990's.

NC26458? Hopefully it’s all there and fully sheltered. One of my favorite open cockpit biplanes.

@@daveaustin69 yes. I would love to get that plane and have it preserved the way it should be. I tried once and my brother won't budge on letting it go. However, I have no contact with my brother anymore. I am afraid that plane is going to be lost forever. The plane was my Dad's heart and soul and he had it in pristine condition until the day he died. That's why when I saw this video I started to cry because of all the memories of my Dad.

@@kathycrook8047 Hi Kathy your father would be Frank T. I have a couple of photos of your father's OTW when he attended a few of the Antique Airplane Club of Greater New York fly-ins many years ago. I tracked your brother down and spoke to him about the plane about ten years ago but as you say he was not interested in letting it go. At this point with the probable deterioration of the all wood wings the plane would not be worth much. Such as shame as it was a beauty.

I'm guessing my buddy Jim Jones probably knows about this plane. He has a Meyers OTW he built in Newton Iowa in the early 2000's. As I was finishing up my pilots license, he was finishing up his plane and took it up to Oshkosh. Patty Wagstaff herself did an interview in front of his OTW that year. I'll never forget us having to hand start the wood prop on a grass strip after stopping to get Ice-cream. Flying that girl was a dream, so light on the controls.

Great video, I remember this airport well as I had taken my first flying lessons there. I live nearby and pass the old hanger often and tell my littlest one about it all the time.

Well done on saving this OTW. Let me know if you need anything. I bought all the tooling, jigs, bucks, parts etc that were at the factory in Tecumseh. Cheers! PS: Once you get it flying, THEN it will be the oldest flying OTW. #1 (aka The Old Grey Mare) is in the Airpower Museum in KS.

Please have Todd contact me. I help manage the Meyers Aircraft Owners Association. We'd love to connect and offer any advice or connections so he can restore it to airworthy condition.

McMansions. Yuck. I landed there a few times.. narrow runway. RIP Phoenix Field, too. Does California have something against airparks, like Cameron Park? Shelter Cove doesn't allow hangars.

I’d love an opportunity to buy the Ford in this video and perhaps the sign with radio frequency listed. Do you know who I could contact? Also- I remember this airport while it was open. It was fun to drive by on the freeway and see the planes coming in to land.
