Everybody in North Carolina thought he was going to NC State. Coach Hugh Durham of the University of Georgia told him why should he go to NC State and be the next David Thompson when he can go to the University of Georgia and be the first Dominique Wilkins. I grew up 70 miles from NC State and i was a fan of the school and DT. It would have been huge if Dominique Wilkins had gone there. It would have re-established the school to national college basketball prominence, which had been lost after the graduation of David Thompson in 1975.
