The High Priestess Upright

The pillars are a reference to the two primary pillars in a temple in Jerusalem, Boaz being dark, the quality of mystery, passivity, stillness. Jakin being light, the qualities of action, knowing, illumination. Being between the pillars places one in the position of being able to grasp the dualism of the world or questions of existence. A strong woman in your life or insightful intuitive.
Best Course of Action Upright
Embrace YOUR truth. Be resolute in what is right for you. If in deep quest, seek counsel from another, especially an honorable woman. Do not waver. Be still. If needed, remove yourself to a place of seclusion. Trust your gut. It may be prudent to keep your own counsel at this time.
The High Priestess Reversed:
Not trusting your gut or instincts, pushing back against them. Being passive at the wrong time or being passive aggressive, not speaking up as punishment to another. Fear of life, others, wanting things to be clearcut and black and white when they are actually more complex. A simplistic approach to a complex issue. Being apathetic. Difficulty translating your beliefs into concrete action.
Best Course of Action Reversed:
Explore dualities, examine if you are blaming another, or if you are acting in a passive manner out of fear. Talk out your anxieties or questions with another. Be honest with yourself. Might just be a call to stop mulling and start acting! Act of your beliefs if they are solid. Feel free to ask for help, it is alright to need help, you don’t always have to be strong and self sufficient. You may need to let go of an old, stale way of thinking. Especially if it is an outmoded concept about yourself and your identity. You don’t have to have all the answers before proceeding. Look at other more formal traditions to inform your quest.

I pulled this in reverse for a situation where I had benched myself (albeit dating others) for a guy who had told me he was going to leave his girl - he told me he’d come around when it was kosher to, and then he did ask me on a date. It took all the guts in the world to ask him if he was actually single before meeting with him, and then I did (“we broke up she hasn’t found a place yet…” and had to face the truth that - if I went on this date, I was enabling him. I told him no instead of being passive. It was super hard but also, not hard to figure out the right thing to do.

I also feel this as I am in need of help and am feeling that I am learning how to ask, access & accept help. I've always been thrust into helper mode. And this now makes so much sense. i have a deck called "angel therapy oracle cards," the card "twin flame" jumped out during my reading. im at a really low point in my life right now, im dealing with an illness that's left me unable to work and im extremely depressed because of it so i don't know how a relationship would exactly help me. it feels like i wouldn't have much to offer right now. i did a love tarot spread to try and get clarification, and i pulled the high priestess when i asked about where i am in my love life right now - along with the 9 of pentacles reversed and the queen of wands. 9 of pentacles reversed i understand, but im definitely not feeling like a queen or a high priestess right now.

I got the high priestess a a second card and the 8 of swords as a first card (before the high priestess). The 2 cards are very different and opposites (if I understand right). The 8 of swords says to wait because I do not have enough clarity and the high priestess the opposite 😅. I don't understand what is the right decision to make, to wait because I don't see clearly yet or to go for it because I have the knowledge of what is right for me.

High Priestess Definition. Is the Teaching aspect of understanding by females over the Earth. This is generally done on a sub-conscious level as all females (and even some males) to as greater of lesser degree carry an aspect of High Priestess. There are actual High Priestesses in existence but they are not common and their nature is beyond what people can comprehend as they are even a mystery to themselves. All other definitions of her are meaningless without this understanding as she is the most direct personal delivery of spiritual direction on Earth.
