I *really* hope that chip didn't do any more damage further back in the compressor, and I sure as hell don't know why Rob kept going knowing there were shards of metal in the intake system. @boxr_42143 жыл бұрын
Adam Baldwin the piece is big enough that it wouldn’t make it past the intercooler, so unlikely that he would have to worry about it. if it didn’t break anything else during the period of time between the chip breaking and the engine being shut off it’s unlikely that it ever would.

5:04 Those clutch plates must be doing some turbo type revs when smashing it back down gears to get neutral while the wheels are still going at top speed, just letting the clutch out in neutral they kick the revs up just slowing them down. Leave it in 5th until the wheels slow down a bit. You have the gear ratios, work out what revs it would be doing at top speed in first. As good as they are, they cant be happy going 50000 rpm. Crunch crunch crunch crunch. bang. Clutch plates have left the building.. Edited..Watched it closely again, It was still in first when you let the clutch out wasn't it, that's what kicked the revs up. (counted the crunches and watched your hand)

@@r4ng3k03r1 yeah well someone stole his entire engin and custom built clutch on seperate occasions, that'll set you back a year, hardly his fault.
@r4ng3k03r13 жыл бұрын
@@DaftFader they stole the extra engine and UPS lost the clutch from the company he partnered with but he solved that problem by buying the same clutch from someone, I remember when that happened. He has 2 4 rotors, one that's billet aluminum and one that has factory Mazda plates. That isn't an excuse as to why it isn't finished still. There's 4 suggestions of seperate Dyno tunes from Rob alone. Don't see why he needs to tune it as much as he has when it hasn't even been taken out to get on it at all because it has no floor and the rear driveshaft is right next to his arm and the diff is right behind him aswell.. I'm not trying to sound like a hater but I mean c'mon Mazzei finished his in 3 years and he doesn't have half the following Rob has and finished the build. Rob just keeps starting new projects postponing the ones he's already started never finishing them completely. He's doing the 4 rotor C8, rebuilding the 3 rotor with old parts, has the 4 rotor hes never going to finish, the 13b C6 Corvette. The first two he just posted videos saying he was doing that these last 2 months.

Hey rob, great videos and I’m Glad you went into some more detail, what sort of ignition timing are you running? On another note, downshifting after a 9000rpm dyno pull speeds up your clutch disks by a multiple of each gear ratio, so ultimately you are rotating your clutch disks at upwards of 20000RPM right next to your leg! You might be better off just holding in the clutch till the wheel speed reduces as you can’t just put it into neutral! Keep up the great work!

We've been harping on that since he did that massive burnout at hoonigans. I would be looking for a big carbon fiber tube to use as a driveshaft guard, and then some steel around the top for driver protection.

Right ? His arm is so dam close to that high speed rotating mass, he could atleast put in a teporary tunnel cover, or something especially with crazy high speed runs like these.

the only thing that I am able to point out, as a "know-it-all commenter", that might be helpful is that around 20:24 during the pull you can see that you are pushing the clutch slightly in with your foot during the heat of the moment. I dont know where the bite point is for this clutch, but in my bmw that definitely would impact the heat the clutch sees/how long of a life it has. My proposed solution based on nearly no insight or experience is: Make a floor pan so you dont rest your foot on the clutch as much but duuuuuuuuuuude holy shit this is insane & i am so happy for you Rob
