A beautiful little town Cara. We are so lucky in this country to have so much history everywhere we go. Loved the Civil War stuff. So many towns in the West were Royalist for so long. They seemed to be treated worse than others after Cromwell too over. Imagine shooting at a Church even then!! Amazing to see the Cannonball damage and I expect they hung that ball up as a sign of how bad the War was. Another wonderful and thought provoking vid Cara. Love it.

I’m glad these place show the damage off, it’s hard to imagine it with out that. If that makes sense. Amazing how these church with stroud the damage, you wouldn’t get that with Modern building. Such a beautiful place, thanks for watching

I might be wrong but one of the left two windows on the second floor is blur. 3:03 unless something wrong with my laptop. Or spooky ghostly thing? (I mentioned I the chat) Wow, the scale of stained glass and vaulted ceiling give me chills, magnificent! Is that up-right piano? 4:18 or just a heavy ornate chair? Her again, the design is truly appreciated. 4:51 Wow, Civil War history still tabard holds untold history What's on the back? Is that leather? I thought is is old Kimono Dress Unbelievable evidence 6:34. Many may say a bad thing about this scar on the church, but I may say this is an honor of scar, depict the church stands still proudly with a high positive reputation. The blur out window must have been something on the lens. It’s a very heavy chair at 4:18. I agree, I see these scars as a badge of honour. The fact that it so small damage is amazing, modern houses wouldn’t handle that. Thanks for watching 😊

Hi Cara this looked like a lovely market town, so pretty as you have us a look around and according to what remains have been found around the hilltop, has so nuch interest history. The church was lovely with its beautiful windows and the cannonball replica was good to see, a reminder maybe of all what happened in the civil war but ooo i don't like the sound of that ghostly figure hanging about ! Actually, there is also an Eastrop,, both now part of Highworth. Eastrop is on the eastern approah to Highworth on the road to Faringdon, however Westrop is North West of Highworth,; both the "trops" are though, east and west of eachother. I always thought, in my ignorance that "thorp", "thrupp" and "trop" etc came from Norse, and I didn't think the Vikings got so far as to surround a Saxon town, but it seems the terms are very similar in these languages. Also, what was the ghosty stuff about? Anyway, Highworth is a fine wee town, though Swindon keeps getting nearer!

If it was a Saxon settlement in the 6th century you would have thought something would have been at the site of the church, even something pagan hey, interesting place👍 ghosts hey, Corrine will be there soon

That's what i thought, so was a little shocked that i couldn't find any mention of an earlier church. yeah i sent Corrine the website of all the ghosts in that area :-)
