Hello, I am the guy in the video, In my nervousness when filming this video, I for some reason I called the Laser Warning system a camera. 6:32 It is a camera in some ways. The LWS is gives automatic warning against common battlefield laser threats and can be seen by the driver and commanders displays. The camera I meant to refer to are the cameras co-axial to the main gun, the drivers thermal imaging camera (para scope) and the gunners thermal camera. Thermals would also be mounted on the rare in later models. I am embarrassed to make that mistake, but to be human is to make mistakes. Hope this clears it up!

Glad to see you are still ''serviceable''. In hope & trust you are taking care of yourself. The LAV with the latest improvements, it would be even better if they up-gunned to 35mm or 40mm (NEXTER: cased telescoped ammunition) which is both compact (overall size, shell and propellant contained within casing) and virtually jam-proof (feed). The anti-drone role is going to become fairly ubiquitous in all theatres from this point on, so the larger slugs with proximity fuses would be dandy! Larger slug hits harder from greater range (usually). So, a win win. Be well and stay safe

I was pondering this over, seems to me, they also could repurpose some of the defunct Leopard 1 turrets and slap them atop a LAV as a fire support vehicle, the chassis on the old Leo 1s are pretty much gonzo so it could be a nice addition to anyone having to face bad guys. A 105 mm gun is not so great against MBTs head to head, it remains fairly good on flanking/rear ambush shots. Works just fine against everything other kind of targets (vehicles & fortifications) from virtually any angle, the operating tech can be updated as needed. Cannot think of any sized infantry formation complaining about having more punch than a 25mm gun, moving at the same pace but, generating less noise than a Leo 2. I think this might be a future fav.

Always have a fondness for the LAV series and thought when the USMC ordered them that the wheeled IFV era had returned. Oh the vehicle at the end must be a Staghound by the shape of the turret.
@spd5792 ай бұрын
The lil-armored car looks like a Ferret, with a up-dated turret. Guessing the caliber of the gun, 35 or 37mm. My first time observing and getting a close look at the USMC issue LAV-25, was in 1986, at Infantry Training School, outer camp San Onofre, Camp Pendelton. The back end compartment, they said you could hold 4 grunts, with gear. When I looked inside I felt like that was optimistic. By the way. I wish you had sat down in that back compartment. I'm only 5'9" and when I sat in the back, I had my knees in my chest. One good bump while on the move, and they be slammed in to my jaw!. They was one event at San Onofre beach, where they had a LVPT-7 (now the AAV), and a LAV-25 coming ashore, side by side. The LVPT is a tracked vehicle. It came ashore, over the sand, no sweat. The LAV, no go. It got hung up, on a berm between the wet and dry sand. The LVPT, had to tow it out. Embarrassing! Although, they could shoot on the move and make the hits.

Well, I don't have an actual favourite wheeled vehicle, but an type that I would like would be something that for example would be an Stryker, lightly armored and fast, but with suspensions and modification kit that would transform this vehicle in something like an Eitan (pretty well armored) or boxer (modular and can use an 35mm cannon) or an centauro (armed with an 120mm gun), in resume is: an light apc (with the Stryker armor and .50 cal), something like 19-22 tons, but with an suspension that can hold up to 35-40 tons, being this extra weight used on something like extra armor, or an bigger armament, like an 105 or 120 mm guns (yes, I would like an apc that can be modeled to be something like an striker, Eitan or an centauro, and yes, I would like something like that for an tracked apc, with the only difference being extra armor)

In World War 2, conventional guns had a penetration of 1.7 .. 1.6 of the caliber. Howitzers of 0.9 caliber. The cumulatives grew from 1, then 1.2 caliber, to 1.33 caliber. The weak Sherman and T34 guns are similar to 1,2 and 1,33. According to the American calculation method, Panther and Ferdinand had 2.5 penetration from the caliber, and their subcalibers3.5. (rifled barrels). Well, based on this, protection from a large-caliber machine gun and a small-caliber automatic anti-aircraft gun should be taken 2 times of steel. If it is lined with uranium and tungsten, it is better to take about 3.5 calibers for the thickness of the armor. (The armor of Bradley's forehead or the sides of the Abrams tower). For explosive protection of cubes on a tank, you need about 30mm, the same for an explosion of 10 meters of a 155mm projectile. 50mm is guaranteed to protect from an explosion a couple of meters from the armor of a 155mm projectile. 80mm should protect against a direct hit by a high-explosive projectile. The forehead of the MBT tanks should hold from 500mm to 900mm cumulative. For the forehead of the body, there is usually from 400mm to 600mm of space between the front and the driver, this place will be less protected. For the forehead of the tower, there is usually from 600mm to 800mm of space between the front and the gunner. This place will be better protected. Well, it's difficult to increase the space, it's easier to change metal and plastic for uranium and tungsten, or another heavier alloy and composition. More expensive, rare and heavy. But it's easier with size retention. This is the end of 20th century logic.
@hamster84492 ай бұрын
In modern tanks, you need a second engine and a second smaller fuel tank. Or an emergency parking engine can be added to this. (like a handbrake, but for short-term movement). You need two main ammunition stoves in the stern of the tower and next to the driver and a few small spare ones in other places. It is necessary to be able to transport soldiers and food with medicines instead of ammunition. Without shells.

Not Armoured but can be is the Hummvee as have great visuals from the vehicle as driver and passenger can be modified to make into what you want pretty much go anywhere do anything only weakness presumably now fixed was the starting system with the glow plug as if you started up the vehicle *"straight away"* like a normal car would blow out the glow plug for preheating the diesel. Bradley IFV far nicer than this or the Stryker as an actual combat vehicle as Russia is finding out the hard way and they haven't even been invaded by a Fleet of Bradley IFVs yet although that now appears to imminent September 2024😊

We used to have some, known as the LAV III TUA (TOW-under-armour) that had two TOW missile launchers, one on each side of a turret that was designed by the Norwegian engineering firm Kværner Eureka. I believe that 79 of this LAV III varient were produced, but that all of the in-service TUA's have had their turrets removed. Some (perhaps all) of those LAV's were then equipped with Nanuk remote weapons stations and were known as the LAV III RWS. (Canada used to have a number of M113 A2 TUA's with the same turret; 72 vehicles were so equipped.)
