Get yourself a lithium jump starter. I wouldnt be without mine. Starts the car and the boat, and has got me and others out of a pickle many times. It's the most useful gadget ive ever bought for the vehicles!

As soon as I saw those jump leads I thought they wouldn't work ! I had the same problem with some in a round pack like that , borrowed a different set and the car started straight away.

An 8 day journey through your playlist and it has been a marvelous trip! It has made this old Texas boy want to move to the UK and buy a narrow boat. Sure wish you had ran into Cruising the Border crew while in Italy so you could tell them to get back to the cut. Great content and can’t wait to see more wonderful adventures!

Hey Ben. Research "voltage sensitive relay" (vsr). I have one on my vehicle battery system. The start battery stays ready to do its job. Then once started, when the voltage drops a little, the vsr switches over and the start battery is isolated, so it cant be drawn down. This leaves the house battery usable. I never have to switch between, and there is always a fully charged starter battery. Once the start battery is back to fully charged, the vsr opens up, so its ready for next start. Works brilliantly.

Im an old confused viewer, but I thought the car was a temporary swap for your previous yellow van with Emily's sister until you got the ambulance. Is it now a permanent feature that you have to move 2 vehicles and 2 boats? Anyway, it makes for a cracking good story about uncooperative batteries and motors. We have similar battery flatlines from time to time too, but of course being house-dwellers it's easier to recharge them. I'm glad you have the handy generator . . . What a lifesaver!

I seem to recall (having just binged watched the series) that it was suggested that they'd use the car as a "run-a-about" as it was easier in many situations then using the van - that might change in the future 🤷

Hi sorry if someone has already told you this. Your car engine will not generate enough power to start a van engine. It would need something beefy like another diesel van or a diesel 4x4 like a Land rover or something similar. I had a similar problem and I finally got it started by a kind motorist with a big engined ( diesel) Land Rover . Safe journey ❤️❤️

I did a boat holiday on the Avon based out of Traford upon avon .Loved it two weeks of a great holiday. Lot's have changed this was back in the 80's when we lived in England .

When a battery goes totally flat jumping doesn’t usually work unless you leave it connected with the other vehicle running and let it charge for a long time. But a charger with generator can usually get it charged enough in an hour to 90 minutes. Just my experience.

So, a summary of the episode - still not good (no motor), oh no (flat battery), hard work (manually moving), yea (for the lockies), 👍Emily's driving, yea (for the charger), phew (battery charged), yea (on the move), oh no (flat battery), yea (for quick snap in the car and jumper cables), oh no (battery won't charge), oh no (still don't know what's wrong), yea (battery charged), yea (passed the test 🥳) and yea (pizza!) ... going to ignore the potential cat confrontation, but Alan just gets a "yea" generally 👍 ... oh, and the window fixed 👍. I'm bushed from just watching! Here's to getting a new motor!

negative on the block, positive on positive terminal for vehicle being started, and on both leads for the boosting vehicle, small car would probably need to be revised up during the start attempt and a few minutes before.

hi tow the little boat on cross straps it will follow without problem . when hand towing use two ropes ,one from stern one from centre post or bow ,form a triangle stern rope to tow boat bow moves out into canal bow rope controls bow
