We’re back with another episode of the American Hardwood Advisor podcast - this time not at Studio 3B! Today, AHA host Steve Stack is with Renovation Hunters’ Lead Contractor, Kevin Tarkovich, to discuss home improvement throughout season 2 of Outdoor Channel’s first renovation TV show.
The renovation projects featured in Renovation Hunters’ Season 2 were full of ups and downs. When working on home remodeling projects like these, they rarely go off without a hitch - and this season was no exception. Between unrelenting rain and needing to rip apart walls down to the studs, among other hurdles, giving these families their new home upgrades was a tall task.
The projects on Renovation Hunters are more than just curb appeal. When seeing these older homes for the first time, it’s hard to tell just how much work needs to be done, both for interior design and functionality. You can easily see if you need a kitchen remodel with new high-end countertops or if a living room needs to be opened up to make it work for a family. What you can’t always tell, however, is if you need to tear down drywall throughout the whole house, start a full kitchen renovation or if a home design idea you have won’t actually work. You don’t always know how much a fixer-upper really needs to complete its makeover.
Unfortunately, there are also times when, upon inspection, it is clear that a house renovation is not feasible to become a dream home. Not every project is as simple as installing new wood flooring in a living space or adding a new backsplash to the kitchen to make the value of your home go up.
However, the Renovation Hunters crew works their hardest to give homeowners what they want for their real estate, without gouging renovation costs. At the end of the day, delivering a new home to a family is the reason why they do these home improvement projects in the first place.
