Fascinating and informative. As an old (trust me, old) retired finance guy, I love hearing about the history of companies, organizations, the triumphs, the failures, what worked, what didn't. I know, I know.. check me for a pulse, but this was great. Thanks for presenting this Scott.

I really appreciated this video giving insight into the people who make Adepticon happen. This year was my first year back since Covid, and it felt bigger than when I left. I’m curious, did they share attendance numbers with you?

I have been a volunteer since it’s inception, when I came out to play 17:05 Games. These people are my family, I laugh/cry/work/DRINK AND HAVE FUN every single year! I have watch my friends kids grow up, heck I love almost as much as my two kids! All I can say is I have been doing since I was six years old with my Dad in France (wargaming/ painting mini’s) till now. A greater group of characters you will never meet unless you attend! Heck become part of the family of volunteers and see the amount of work and fun we have setting up/breaking down! OGRE and my Rottweiler Scout

I remember Adepticon first getting going. The 40k group it was started by was called Adeptious Basementus hence Adepticon. They started as a sister 40k gaming organization of the Iron fist gaming league in DC, MD, VA that I was a member of way back in the day. Very cool that it has gotten so big.
@MatthiasWeeks
@MatthiasWeeks Жыл бұрын
Adeptus Basementus was from the St. Louis area and served as the main point of inspiration to us in Chicago when we started the forums/organization for Adeptus Windy City in the late 90's. There was a ton of crossover in tournament play between the groups, but it was all super informal. Feels like a lifetime ago!

@@MatthiasWeeks Great to see Adepticon still going. I was one of the first GW folks to help support the con...me and Tim Van Dusen, Allen Blount, Trent Nighman, etc. I remember going to some of the early ones and us providing support with Outriders, product, etc back in the day. Always was a great draw and it still amazes me how big the hobby and variety of games has gotten.

Hey Scott! Love the video and makes me appreciate what they do more. If you still talk to him maybe throw out Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. Big area and a ton of hotels right around it. Also like 5 minutes from O'Hare airport. Its also used for Anime Central. Tons of space and I know vendors use the Hyatt Hotel for areas and the Embassy Suites for more room. Might help with their space!

As a guy who dabbled in organizing cons for some time now (over a decade now!), I love what I saw. It's a peek behind the curtain of a fellow convention with just a somewhat different target. And with the "from fans to fans" mindset too. This documentary awakened forgotten dreams XD'. Thank you.

What a cool look behind the scenes! This was my first year at the con, and I'm glad I went - hoping to make it back next year. I would love to see an open competition there - either not tied to a miniature company or just an open format for one of the other comps (or preferably both!). I know there's other comps in the US, but I only have time to go to one per year, and would love for it to be Adepticon.

Im surprised at how much they put in to the Con and to find out they're doing it as a side job, wow, just amazing. I went to Adepticon last year, wanted to go this year, but had some things come up that prevented me from being able to go... I was absolutely gutted I couldn't come back! I'll be back next year though, and since I live in between Chicago and Indy, Gencon is just around the corner and in my "backyard" So i'll catch you all at Gencon if you'll be there, and def next year at Adepticon! Thanks for sharing Scott, really enjoyed this video bro!

Oh man. I would absolutely love to go to an event like this. Arc40k was a real let down for me but I realise it was all about the tabletop tournament and that's not what I was there for. I couldn't even enter any minis as I couldn't go there for both days since I lived so far away. Having no shop selling brushes, paints, etc or even any stalls selling minis was very disappointing. Surely they could have got one Etsy seller to be there with some minis and busts to sell? I'm glad I managed to meet Emil and Lukas though. But a five hour round trip was pretty harsh. This event on the other hand looks incredible.

Great video and great event. My one suggestion is they should modernize the badge handout process. The current alphabetically ranged card catalog handout system results in a 1000+ person line on Wednesday and thursday morning, with mult-hour wait times. If you can't find a digital solution, at least let people pay $5 to have their badge mailed to them. Otherwise, awesome con!!
