AoF 3 is good because you can attack rival in the floor, have good graphics and the gameplay/difficult is more easy than AoF 1 or 2.

Its a shame that Art of Fighting doesnt get the credit it deserves for the innovations that are now staples in fighting games (story modes, super moves,etc). Its shameful that SNK is willing to let the series die.

It's about time art of fighting has historical values as it pays homage to the kyokushin founder oyama masutatsu as well as young geese corrupted to no end as well of the origin of kyokugen karate (OSU!)

Takuma feels more like Shigeru Oyama (the Founder of World Oyama Karate) more than Mas Oyama. When Shigeru first came to the Us (Ny to be exact) he felt like the tall Americans werent taking him seriously so he ended up beating up most of them in sparring (66 guys in one dojo over 80 in another). The lore is that the gym keeps losing students because Takuma's extreme teaching methods. I think beating up students for not taking you seriously qualifies as extreme.

Mr. Karate and Mr. Big were playable characters even in the 1st AoF, once you reach them in story mode it was possible to select them in 1vs1

AOF was the game that made me purchase a AES as a teen. AOF2 dramatized me, that game was beyond hard and I have never beat it.

Probably if SNK want to reboot Art of Fighting, they will better try the beat'em up genre (Streets of Rage 4 sorta) instead the fighting one. And i'm saying this while i still play AoF, met my best friend while playing aof, and i was in the top 3 player of my arcade back then.

@@NeoGeoNow Make it 2D with offline and online co-op, more open world like river city ransom girls, a vs mode, survival, time attack, side missions, mini games, sub bosses, a story mode for each character(story revolves around the character that the 1st player picks). Then we got ourselves a game.

Yasuyuki Oda (producer/director at SNK) recently said something very similar to this that if they do another AOF, then he would reboot it and make it an "action" game instead of 1v1 fighting. AOF4 should be outsourced to the Streets of Rage 4 team!

There was rumors of AoF coming back as a Final Fight/Streets of Rage style beat em up a few years ago. There was even concept art of Jack Turner. The story of the first game easily leads itself to that genre.

I’ve heard that Art of Fighting was Nishiyama’s original vision for what he wanted for a sequel to Street Fighter (the original, which he helped develop), storyline wise. That’s why the characters are so similar. - Ryu became Ryo, Ken became Robert, their then unnamed master became Takuma, and their master’s daughter (who then had a bigger role in the canon) became Yuri. Any confirmation on this anyone?

RYo , Robert & takuma reminds me the 90th action movie "Best of The best" & specially "Shootfighter: Fight to the Death" , also Ryo chracther is more token from Phillip Rhee & Eric Roberts(best of the best) ,Robert looks like Steven Seagal & JC Vandamme (double impact) , Takuma is made from manga Katsumi Orochi & lengendary Karate master MatsuTatsu Oyama, John crawley lookslike Arnold Chwarzenegger from Commando Movie In AOF Robert's car is Ferrari F-40 Testarossa / Ryo Moto is Harley-Davidson Fatboy1990

I remember playing AOF 2 at a bowling alley, I would play it to get passed the first fighter but I always lost since I didn't know what to do most of the time cause I had no knowledge of the previous AOF game.

Seeing these games as a youngster I have to be honest even though I didn’t see the MVS machines as often as like a SF2 cabinet. These games especially AOF 2 stuck to my memory. Those huge detailed sprites the panning camera. I didn’t have a home version until PS3. The barn yard with the horses I never forgot it. Same with Samurai Shodown master pieces of games. I always favored capcom fighters but as I got older I branched out more. Fatal Fury 2 on Genesis and super with those crazy desperation moves and way more complicated motion inputs were waves ahead of street fighter.

You are probably a very busy man and I am so excited to see “The History of King of Fighers” docs, I would LOVE to see you make a documentary or series on the Capcom vs. SNK games. Think of what we could see! - Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 - Capcom vs. SNK 2 - SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos - the Card Fighter games - SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium Would you consider this for a future project? I’d be so excited to see this as I am hopeful for a possible SNK/Capcom crossover. Just something to thing about.

I'll be honest, if SNK ever makes an Art of Fighting collection, I wouldn't mind if they added an option to make the games, especially Art of Fighting 2, easier. Don't get me wrong, they can still have the original difficulty available, but it would be nice to have the option to make the games a tad more accessible.

Pfft! I find FF2/FFS harder to 1 credit than AOF2. I finally finished FFS on my AES without continuing for the first time last year. Didn’t take me near as long for AOF2.

Thanks for this video! Sorry for my english at first. Did you find any materials with making of AoF3 animations? They looks cool, but not like rotoscoped or something what was made with motion capture or anything made with using real actors. They’re smooth and nice, but most of them are not about real human movements. And i can’t understand, how could they use motion capture for 2d pixelart sprites. They could use motion capture for 3d models and then overpaint them with pixel art a’la KoF12 many years later, but again sprites and movements does not look like that. I could not find any “making of” materials or something, and all mockup story looks like advertising legend for me yet. Anyway, it’s a beautiful game with great style of animations.

This game was something else, they introduce supers in fighting games in general P.S. Ultimate KO have from first games by the way but they are hidden, game not tell you how is done and if ask me AOF 3 is much worst then AOF 2 I agree with critics, for me Real Bout Fatal Fury also cant even compare Fatal Fury Special they ruined it, Garou was real comeback of Fatal Fury

The Real Bout Fatal Fury Series was great but RBFF2 was the most redefined of the series. Since the first RBFF they slowly improved with each installment.

Yeah... it seems SNK has no interest in bringing back Fatal Fury AND Art of Fighting cause they're already in KOF. They brought back Samurai Shodown cause it was its own different thing and long-running series in its own right. One thing I wish though, is that I wish some of the other characters that haven't shown up yet would return in KOF. Seeing that they brought back Raiden and Hwa Jai in KOF 13, they have almost every FF character in the KOF series. I really want to see John Crawley, Lee Pai Long, Mickey, Lenny Creston, Jin Fuha, etc with updated looks and movesets. Hell, Jin Fuha is looking for Eiji and he's not even in AOF3. Maybe SNK can finally have Jin Fuha and Eiji clash in some new KOF game.

AoF3 was a fantastic game, and that EGM review of it was BS. It almost seems like they didn't play the game, cause if they did they would have realized it was unlike any 2d fighter out there, and more along the lines of something like Virtua Fighter, and the fact that they were able to make a pretty good facsimile of that style in 2d was actually kind of amazing. That game was really ahead of it's time.

AOF 1 is my best fighting game ever i play it from 1995 till now , AOF2 was to fast gameplay(too fast than we wanted ) with less good FX sounds, the design of characters was not the same than AOF1 , difficulty very hard to beat the game , too many glitches, AOF3 was sympathic but his big failure was to immitate 3D fighting specially TEKKEN 2 and other of the same time, you know what's the result of a race between 2D & 3D like a bicycle and a nascar,SNK should have stuck with it's old good style of AOF1&2

Some features on Aof3 are good, like juggles (but there should be a limit), chains and otg's. The biggest problem to me is the slower gameplay, as they wanted to highlight too much the detailed animations; and the drastic roster change. Whenever that kind of change happens, its a very risky move (even Capcom's Sf3 suffered from that). They definitely shouldnt have discarded so many good chars from Aof1-2.

If there was an Aof4, i wish it went back to the Aof2 speed, but taking some features from 3 like juggles (a little bit) and otg's. And a more polished and practical spirit bar system, more similar to Kof and Cvs2. And get rid of the whole Aof3 roster except Karman maybe.

I dont have much control over that. I just set monetization to on. If i set ads to be removed during video then it wont be feasible. Unfirtuabtely it seems to work based on lication. When i watch it from a friends machine i got one video ad at the behinning and that's it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
