I was 12 or 13 years old when "blue eyes crying in the rain " came out . I had an AM transistor radio bungee cord to my bike . I loved that song so much I went around telling people there's this "new "country singer named Willie Nelson and he's got this awesome new song out .

I am 60 years old and I just learned that my parents music I grew up with was the Nashville sound. I liked Johnny Cash, Charlie Pride, Hank Still, watching He Haw. Buck and Roy. As soon as I heard Willie and he introduced me to Waylon. My parents and I were on opposite ends of the musical spectrum we thought. I had no idea they were related. Of course this is just a sketch of where my heart was. I still think the most beautiful music I have ever heard though was Roy Clark play Laura's Theme on the 12 string. It was on TV and I have never been able to find it again.

The Bakersfield sound was great, very bright & bouncy. Anyone who likes it will love Bakersfield Bound album by Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen.

How can they cover Bakersfield and not mention Ferlin Husky, Jean Shepard or Tommy Collins?
@goplad110 жыл бұрын
You are so right. But keep in mind this documentary is an overview and not a comprehensive examination of country music. There are several documentaries out there on the Bakersfield Sound and they include all the players.

buck wasn't drunk or had a stroke. he had throat cancer that put a strain on his voice. that's where the constant slur came from the last 10 years or so he was alive.

The only problem here is that there is far too little attention paid to Buck Owens and the Bakersfield sound.

I think I posted this comment somewhere else, but it bears repeating. Can you hear the straight line from Don Rich's Telecaster to Jerry Garcia's crazy fingers?

That's after Buck had a stroke.

These British people did a half ass job on country music history. Not a mention of George Jones, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, etc.
