Dixie is one of Nintendo's most underutilized character. Diddy should already be in basically every Mario spinoff, but the fact that even he has to fight for a spot half the time means Dixie almost never even has a chance. Hopefully with the Mario Movie sort of reenforcing the Mario/DK universe connection, we'll see them use the Kongs more leniently in Mario games and spinoffs. Dixie is a classic Nintendo All Star who had her own titular game, is a female character (that isn't just another princess), and has a unique ability. DK, Diddy, and Dixie need to be mainstays.

While I agree that Dixie deserves WAY more love than she has gotten over the years, the fact that she is female should have absolutely zero influence over that. The fact that she is an awesome character should have all the influence over it. Her helicopter hair spin is god tier.

@@zedorian6547 While it hasn't been as much of an issue in recent years (with characters like Pauline, Birdo, and Toadette being common again), it was definitely a big deal that basically the only female representation in the Mario spinoffs until Rosalina were just Peach and Daisy. I was more just pointing out that they could've used her as a more flagship female rep, since I do think it's important. It's not the reason she should be featured more, but it would've been a good bonus in a time where female representation in games wasn't very good.

I wanted Diddy and Dixie to go to Super Smash Bros. as a tag team, as originally planned. Aside from that, it is also true that they had too much hidden potential to surpass Donkey, and the shadow of Donkey could have faded. When I heard that diddy was originally dk jr, I was convinced and surprised.

@@frost8077 Yep, they were originally going to be similar to ice climbers but not really, you could tag team and switch between both kongs, similar to Zelda/Shiek, but it got scraped for some reason.

Nintendo has the potential to create iconic characters, both men and women, but curiously most of them doesn't are officially a couple and when they are, or its not made entirely by them or just pretend it's ambiguous. Diddy and Dixie are one of the most known power couples and one of my favorites, mostly because they are introduced as such. Dixie is as important as Donkey and Diddy, so seeing that after years she is being reknown and playable is a good change. Also, in the Super Mario Bros. Movie when Mario turns into Cat Mario, its seen how during the "Aww" scene, Dixie grabs Diddy's arms, while is just an effect of Cat Mario's cuteness, that was a sweet scene for me, like hinting they are a couple even in this new media. This video really did justice to Diddy and Dixie's creation and story throughthe DK games, even adding extra details to the games they were in.

Ok, to solve the whole Diddy is DK's nephew mess, here's my theory: Diddy being DK's nephew may refer to DK the first. The OG DK in the 80's. This makes sense as to why DK the 3rd, (DK Jr's Son) is Diddy's "cousin".

I haven´t played the most recent DK games, but I am very fond of these characters from DKC 2 and DKC3. I loved this games so much, and specially Diddy and Dixie, their dynamic was the best. These are of my favorite characters of the games, they deserve more recognition. I can´t choose a favorite song, they are all so good. I enjoyed a lot the song that plays in the vine levels, maybe that one but also all the rest.

Tropical Freeze is one of the most beautiful looking games I've ever seen. The flow is fast paced, and so fluid once you learned to "run" the levels. The graphics are so colorful and clean...the art is gorgeous... I don't have a Switch, but my son does. DK Tropical Freeze is the best looking game on the Switch imo...

When it comes to Nintendo’s female cast Dixie is probably the most underrated being a full on video game heroine at a time where female hero’s had caveats (Peach only being playable in dreams and karts, and Samus having to hide her identity at first.) it’s so weird that she’s never been included in smash (I rather not have her tethered to Diddy, she deserves her own chance to stand out on her own.)

Always looking forward to more Kong history. Diddy was genuinely my favorite character easily in this verse as a kid, any mario spin off he was in that I had, I always gravitated towards him. And much love to Dixie too, though was always more about that Tiny life. Their little family is interesting all on its own. And yes, definitely down for you making a video on those comics, I've seen a couple videos dedicated to one comic each specifically, but I'm sure you'll go above and beyond and shed light on some ones I have yet to learn about. Great coverage on Diddy!❤ Good video overall.👍 On a side note; and I have no evidence, as a theory I think either Funky Kong or POSSIBLY Swankey adopted Diddy into the Kong family and; if other theories are true, if Donkey Kong, Funky Kong, and Swanky are all brothers than Diddy COULD be a nephew of sorts to Donkey Kong. Also Donkey Kong is a third who didn't have a father figure; Jr. is considered to be Donkey Kong's dad, but grows up to be the mysterious "Fedora Kong" whom was assumed to be killed in a war with the Kitters, so maybe he takes Diddy under his wing, so he has a strong male role model. I think maybe Swanky is his never around kinda deadbeat father. This is kinda messed up, but makes sense. What do you think?🤔

For the longest time, I didn't even know there was a space world in Diddy Kong Racing, because... well, I never managed to beat Wizpig. I probably stopped bothering to try, since I assumed the game would be over after that anyway. Oh well. Nicely done video, either way. The ending part I had to skip because I didn't want to risk any potential spoilers for the Mario movie.

I don't know if it was the case anywhere else in the world, but I remember a Donkey Kong Pilot on the GBA. Look a lot like the image you're showing, but with only Kongs in it (as far as I know) and the plane being the only vehicle. Oh, and while Diddy is still playable, Donkey is the star this time around, obviously. That doesn't make your video any less good, (and it is extremely good, by the way. Like always.) Speaking of spectacularly good video, I would love one about those Donkey Kong comics.

15:59 I actually found DKC3 to be the easiest game to collect everything in. The only reason I've actually seen the final ending of DKC2 while playing on the Super Nintendo was because of a secret I learned about in the late 2000s from a KZbin video that point out a way to have every Krem coin in the game so therefore I was able to unlock all the bonus levels and then still beat Captain K Rool. But in DKC3 I was actually able to complete everything in the game and collect all the DK coins and bonus coins and banana birds without needing to look anything up. I actually find it a lot more easier to find the bonus rooms and the DK coins in the game compared to previous DKC games.

I liked Dixie Kong a lot in DKC2 & 3. She was more fun to play as because of her spin, but I don't know I was a big fan of her. I'm so glad they had her in the 2nd and 3rd game. I didn't think back then "Oh man what a FORCED female character!", nope she was a good addition and it didn't need to be brought up that she was a female addition. She worked perfectly as an added character with cool moves. I remember before 5th grade I would play DKC2 in the morning haha...man the good ol' days.
