Dimension Films also produced the 2009 post-apocalyptic drama "The Road", which had a festival run and earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Cinematography.

20th century studios (Disney Buenavista ) should rebuy or bring back to Dimension films back

I must admit...at this point, I haven't seen very many movies made by Dimension Films (ones that were released just under that label alone, anyway); I do remember seeing "Spy Kids" many years ago, though. Mostly, with Dimension Films, I tend to think of movies that it co-distributed, such as... -"Mr. 3000" (with Touchstone Pictures) -"Starsky & Hutch" (with Warner Bros.)

kinda surprised you didn't mention Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson's werewolf movie, Cursed, especially considering how torturous the production was

For me, I always associate Dimension with the first four Scream movies and Grindhouse. Although, having the latter along with the first Scream as some of my favorite movies does help a bit

Well, actually, some weeks ago, he mentioned that he's retiring that specific series (or at least putting it on hold indefinitely); he says that those videos require more research than any other segments, that it was getting really exhausting for him, and he was losing interest in it. (I would know about this, as I'm one of his sponsors on Patreon.)

I've been curious as to when you'd do a video on this. While great as always, I have to admit one thing. I didn't know Dimension Films hadn't folded until watching this. I'd just assumed it got shut down along with TWC. Though considering no one in their right mind would want to partner with Bob Weinstein, it may as well have. Also, this might just be my memory playing tricks on me but I remember a U.S. teaser for Paddington 2 including the Dimension Films logo (Although, another also included the TWC logo).

Dimension did fold. The label was just used on the last few completed productions (it helps that the Weinstein isn't in the name, so it's not quite as tainted). But after "Polaroid", that's it. We're never going to see it on any new movies again unless someone decides to revive it like how Miramax is still used on occasion, even though it's named after their parents.

@@MrCoat Rewatching this, I think I just misunderstood you talking about where Bob Weinstein is now as him still having control over Dimension films. Sorry of the mix-up.

@MrCoat Жыл бұрын
I would have loved to have mentioned Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Just couldn't figure out a way to naturally bring it up. That's the tricky part of these studio history videos. I can't mention every single movie they make, otherwise these videos would be really long. The only exceptions are the shorter-lived studios/production companies with smaller filmographies. I was able to mention every Cinergi Pictures movie, because they only produced 14 movies (plus another that wasn't finished).

I associate this inactive company for 1. The first 4 Spy Kids movies (even though I like only the first 3 movies) 2. Scream (first 4 movies) 3. Mimic (and even the crappy sequels from 2001 and 2003) 4. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back 5. From Dusk Till Dawn (One of my favorite films of ‘96) 6. Scary Movie films (2000-2013) 7. Bad Santa 8. Once Upon a Time in Mexico (even though Columbia handled the United States and Japan rights) And quite a few others
