Einstein's position as a Patent Examiner gave him leisure time to work on his early physics researches, prior to the development of GR.

A particle moving in a transmission medium. Interesting video. Thanks to the speaker who gave the effort to make it happen. If I may say, it seems a little rushed. There are too many vocal mistakes that are constantly being corrected and it's somewhat distracting. Especially with so much information in a short time, it would be better for the speaker to slow down and even pause for a breath after a major point, which makes it much easier to understand and more pleasant to listen to.

Not bad from Hilbert to fully get to grips with the ideas in play, and to all in tense and purposes, develop a theory of GR in months as opposed to Einstein's wrestling for years ... lol. I know I know, Einstein is great, he was the motivator of the project, but he had to get lots of help of mathematicians ! Hilbert's did look ugly by comparison too ... lol.

Agreed. We see the same phenomenon today which I call Einstein envy. The theorists are spouting anything just to get their name attached to an idea at a certain point in time. They make a point of saying that it's their theory with typical hubris. The irony is that Einstein himself seemed a gentle and humble person who did not care about those such things at all, so he said himself.

New finding in 2010 you don't know before, in general theory of relativity Albert Einstein ignored refraction of light. Einstein's proving method (EPM) via eclipse is unscientific and deeply wrong. It is very surprising. Please read on the reliable source the book The Universe and DR.Einstein, by Lincoln Barnett, London, 1949, Preface by Albert Einstein himself, page 78 - 79.

He keeps calling it "The General Theory of Relativity". He should know better, it's "The Theory of General Relativity", as opposed to "The Theory of Special Relativity". I read somewhere or other that Einstein wanted to call it something with "simultaneity" in the title. I don't know, maybe it's one of those things where there's a word in the German language that doesn't translate well, like shadenfreud, or whatever that word I can't spell is... Oops...

In German it's "Allgemeine Relativitätstheorie". Allgemein = General, Relativitätstheorie = Theory of Relativity. The common acronym is GTR.

I know, I feel like a complete idiot. I saw some other documentary where someone who ordinarily is an actual expert kept saying this was The Theory of General Relativity so many times, and with such a unique inflection, that I got brainwashed into thinking I actually KNEW SOMETHING INTERESTING about the trivialities of syntax, grammar, and how to read German. I'll leave my original post untouched, as it reminds me NOT TOO TAKE MYSELF SO DAMN SERIOUSLY...
