If Turkey has the most beautiful & glorious Blue Mosque ( modeled after the Hagia Sophia actually) than why would they need to make Hagia Sophia ( The Church of Holy Wisdom) into a mosque? It doesn’t make sense? You would think that Turkey, who adopted a western alphabet , & who’s leaders now wear western business suits, who’s government is officially secular, & who aspires to become an EU member one day, would grant (or at least allow the use) of Hagia Sophia back to the Roman/Orthodox Christians, who build it, & used it for 1000 years? What point is P Erdogan trying to make by doing this? Turkey would be the greatest nation if it united east & west, Muslims & Christians. It would prosper, grow, become the center of the world! I don’t understand how short sited their current leadership is. It’s like middle-century mentality, & it will only make life for every day Turks more difficult not having opened up to the world. I think it’s big mistake & Im sure half the Turkish nation agrees. P Erdogan you have 90 m people & 3 m refugees to feed. Religious grandeur is not going to do the trick.

Judging by the number of christians leaving their religion and becoming atheist. And by the amount of people all around the world becoming muslim, islam is the fastest growing religion in modern times. Islam is expected by 2050 to be the largest religion. Islam is not going anywhere, instead its here to stay. And as we reclaim our heritage, hagia sophia may never again become a church but will stay a mosque. Islam was meant to be the successor to christianity. All the more reason why we can share in and apreciate the legacy of hagia sophia.

But again I respect any religion but as long that we respect each other, and love one another, despite on what belive becasue Jesus taught to love everybody even your enemy and pray for them and I belive in islam also says that they have to love their neighbors and those who are different. Amongst the younger generation religion isnt too common, amongst the older generation people are staying with religion but studies also show that as the younger generation ages and settles down theyre looking towards religion for guidance and answers, rather than politics and economics, so those figures and statistics do change with demographics over time. And i think islam has a lot of mysticism as well as a lot of similarities with religions like christianity and judaism, which is why more people are choosing islam. Its got a rich history, philosophy, ascetism, culture, and for most people it remains mysterious.
