After the Gök Türks and Sassanides defeated the Hephtalites, together with the Avars (the people of the Rouran Kaghanate) and the White Huns, they migrated to Europe, forming the Avar Kaghanate of Europe between 568 and 800, which base was Hungary and the Carpathian Basin. It is a question of which language they used in the Avar empire. Lately, more and more people question the theory that the Hungarian language was first established in the Carpathian Basin after the conquest of the Hungarian 7 tribes in 895. As the archeological evidences show, they were too few for making this language dominant in such a wide area over the people which lived there. As many historical parallels show, when a small numbered people conquer a region that has a population that exceeds the number of the conquerors, the latter will assimilate to the people they conquered, as the examples of the Bulghar Turks, the Viking Varangians, the Germanic Franks, Visigoths, Ostrogoths of Langobards show. So if only the 7 Magyar tribes would have speak the Hungarian language, probably their language would have disappear, and they would have assimilate to the conquered people from the Carpathian Basin. This is why is more probable that the Avaric people they conquered, and as the archeological evidence shows, they were much more numerous than them, spoke also a form of Hungarian. And thanks to this today the Hungarian language exists. That means that the language of at least one of the Avaric alliance (Rouran-Hephtalite-White Hun), the Var-Chunni, spoke Hungarian. It may be the Hepthatlites of the White Huns or both. And their Hungarian language became dominant in the Avar Kaghanate between 568 and 800. So when the 7 Magyar tribes came, they found the people in the Carpathian Basin speaking their language. This is why is no record of resistance of the local people against the 7 Magyar tribes when they came in 895.

The Hephtalites allowed women to marry multiple husbands, and their women wore a hat with one horn for each husband.
