I find it ironic how the ruling party of Iraq is the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, but Iraq’s relationship with their Kurds is about a 6-7/10 (politically at least)

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan was never Iraq's ruling party even during post-Saddam era. The ceremonial presidency is always given to a Kurd ever since 2005 to make an impression that Kurds still belong to a "one big happy family" called Iraq. Same tactics were employed in Lebanon where the ceremonial president is always a Maronite Christian or in Singapore where the ceremonial president always came from the non-Chinese minority ethnic groups.
