My most favorite Priest album of all time is and will forever be Defenders of The Faith. I was at the concert at MSG that June night back in 1984. The entire evening was surreal. Everything after Great White opening and leaving the stage was a totally unbelievable experience. The band was banned for life that night and even to this very day they can't play the Garden. People were punching holes in the walls and ripping cushions out of the seats and also breaking the seats. Tossing M-80's everywhere and throwing bottles. It was a bad scene as a mob of thousands spilled into Penn Station and basically chanting Priest and terrorizing everyone that was in the station at that time. I remember the manager and a few employees protecting the doors of Beefsteak Charlies not allowing anyone inside. Other shop owners closing down their gates in fear. The train platform on both sides loaded with hundreds of metal heads screaming and smashing signs. It happened 35 years ago and I'll remember it for the rest of my life....the best yet craziest concert I was ever at....the next day Billy Joel was playing MSG and they had to add couple thousand folding chairs as many ticket holders had no place to sit. The Defenders album and tour to me was Priest at their height....even better album than Painkiller! I like Painkiller a lot but Defenders is part of my DNA.....that album defined who I was and it was a flawless album for the first 7 tracks When the night goes down and heavy duty/Defenders of the Faith were also good....honestly after 7 perfect songs of headbanging the last two you could catch your breath before starting it all over again.

My very first Priest concert was on their Defenders of the Faith tour. I’ll never forget it, what an amazing powerful and very loud show that was. My ears rang for three days after that show. I also got the chance to see Rob Halford do a show in a very small bar in Phoenix called the Mason Jar right around the Painkiller timeframe. He was there with a few musicians and did a dozen or so Priest songs, epic! He opened that show with Solar Angels. I was a mere few feet away from the Metal God himself.🤘🏻

Stained Class was my favorite Judas Priest album for many years back in the 90's, but in the past 20 years it has been Sad Wings Of Destiny. It is a MASTERPIECE!!!! Judas Priest in my opinion has many great albums like Sin After Sin, Sad Wings Of Destiny, Stained Class, Hell Bent For Leather/Killing Machine, British Steel, Point Of Entry, Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders Of The Faith, Painkiller, Angel Of Retribution, Redeemer Of Souls, and Firepower. These albums to me are PHENOMENAL!! Great series!!! Looking forward to the Iron Maiden one. Hopefully sometime soon.

Hi Pete, really enjoying your work. Great Priest video. Appreciating learning about the history behind the music. Priest is one of my favorites when I discovered metal in 1981. Killing Machine was my first Priest album which did not include Green Manalishi. First heard Green Manalishi on Unleased in the East and was blown away, one of my all time favorites. Didn’t realize it was a cover, as it sounds like it could have been a Priest original. Appreciate the call out for “Starbreaker.” One of my JP favorites which always seemed to be over looked.

Other highlights were Dissident aggressor, Rock hard ride free, The green Manalishi and Between the hammer and the anvil. Strangely enough they did not play Living after midnight. They were playing in a surprisingly small venue with room for only 3000 people. Sorry, I have to be that guy. According to Wikipedia, Judas Priest had a stretch of 5 out of 6 albums that went platinum, Unleashed in the East through Turbo, Point of Entry being the only one within the 6 that did not. Iron Maiden, on the other hand, had 5 consecutive platinum albums from The Number of the Beast through Somewhere in Time. Incredible accomplishments by both bands though. I love them both. Their rivalry will live on forever.

My first concert was KISS dynasty tour December 3rd, 1979. Opening act was the Rockets. I would have loved to catch Priest as the opener.

@@metalgamerk9549 Rocka Rolla is far better imo all of it I like. Ram It Down has Love Zone,I'm A Rocker,Johnny B.Goode,Love you to Death and Monsters Of Rock. 5 terrible tracks just god awful.

@@dauntingtask8399 Soo Blood Red Skies is awful? Whoa, do we have a different taste. Rocka Rolla has a few good songs on it, but not ONE is even close to metal or hard rock. It's a record to listen to if you want to fall a sleep. I mean compare it to what Black Sabbath was doing at the time..

@@metalgamerk9549 Every track on Rocka Rolla is excellent electric heavy blues, every track. Ram It Down has 5 "Ok tracks" and 5 god awful tracks...the 5 god awful tracks are Love Zone,I'm A Rocker,Johnny B.Goode,Love you to Death and Monsters Of Rock. Rocka Rolla in its entirety is far superior than the 5 ok tracks on Ram It Down.

I saw Priest for the 1st time this week. It was awesome. They did at least one song from all their catalog up to Painkiller and one track from the last album, but they did NOTHING from Stained Class, which is my personal favorite album. But they were still great.

I think Dave Holland was a great drummer for the sound Priest wanted during their 80’s era. That being said, if I wanted to hear some really great drumming from him, I’d probably listen to Trapeze. Great video as always guys!!!
