It's amazing to see the differences in the two productions, especially when it comes to the animatronics. I'm surprised the California Raisins weren't part of either show, they would have been a perfect fit. Great work as usual! Can't wait for the rest of The Land, it's always been one of my favorite parts of the park.

I miss the old heavy animatronic shows and rides of old wdw I think living with the land is the only ride left that still has the old feeling of epcot of the 80s. I still have this show on an old vhs

For those who don't know, The Cereal Sisters are a spoof of real life singing sister trio, The Andrew Sisters, whom were popular during the 1940s-- specifically when America got involved in World War II. The song "Toast of the Town" is a play on the most well-known Andrew Sisters hit "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B", about a young man who is regarded as "the best trumpet player" and how he gets drafted into the Army to fight in the war, and ends up joining the Army Band Core and becoming their star trumpeter.

My parent took me to EPCOT when I was a pre-adolescent. To this day, when she and I wind up in a kitchen together fixing food, as we’re chopping and peeling and slicing, she and I will begin singing “Veggie, fruit-fruit, veggie-veggie, fruit-fruit…” to one another without realizing it, and laugh, and no one else can figure out what’s gotten into us. 🤗

When I went to Disney World for the first time, I saw Food Rocks back in 1996. I have the soundtrack now and used to play it at my job while operating the Dodgem Cars. The look on the kids faces listening to the songs was priceless.

I have seen both of these shows. Kitchen Kabaret was the best. I loved "Miss Ice Cream" I would love to see Kitchen Kabaret come back reimagined. This was a great video. A real nice flash back to some great memories.

I think I forced my parents to go through this 3 times. I asked to go again later and my dad "volunteered". I remember turning and seeing my dad singing along. That original show was great, a lot of heart went into it, even if it always was a little weird.

So I was a cast member at the Land once and remember a guest once asking me where Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit was at. I thought that was just her weird way of trying to explain what Kitchen Kabaret was. I never knew that was an actual song in the show. I feel terrible now for giggling at that.

The song was catchy and I can remember my mom always singing Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit. Food Rocks debuted during my teen years. Kitchen Kabaret will always be special because it was the original but due to my age Food Rocks wins for me.

I went to Disney in about ‘97 or ‘98, and a memory of singing fruit has always stuck with me. Truthfully, I remembered them more as beatniks, but this has to be what I saw. Crazy! I miss this whackiness in present day Disney! Still love it though.

Just edited to say wow you summed that up so well by saying 'this version of epcot no longer exists' it should be obvious that it doesn't but I'd never really thought of it like that before. I remember the old pictures of epcot with me broccoli and wondering where to find him as it had already changed to food rocks. I also remember in 2001 being the only family within the food rocks theatre and pretty much the entire land pavilion. Very different times lol

The things I miss most from classic EPCOT are Journey into Imagination and Kitchen Kabaret, both musicals. Whenever I think of childhood those infectious songs always pop into my head.

I love Kitchen Kabaret, and I'm sad I hadn't been alive to see it in-person. Hamm & Eggz are my favorites! Food Rocks was definitely lackluster in comparison, but still charming in a kitschy, outdated way. I saw that one in person when I was very young, and Pita Gabriel is still my personal favorite. Its a shame both are long gone, and Epcot definitely needs a lot of work, but I have hope! Great video.

This was a well done retrospective of the two shows (I saw Food Rocks once, but it couldn't hold a candle to KK) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My parents went to Disney World during their honeymoon, and the Kitchen Kabaret was one of the things that stuck in my dad's head. Decades later, he still occasionally quotes "veggie veggie fruit fruit" to us, the kids who never experienced it. I can't say much of anything about Food Rocks, I didn't even know that existed before I watched this video.

Kitchen Kaberet is The Country Bear Jamboree of Epcot. Both of them and the tiki room were both serenade like animatronic shows. I was thinking the Kitchen Kabaret can return to Epcot (replacing the circle of life) with new remastered audio and a new advanced redo of the whole cast.

i think the theater would return, but instead be based on the movie wall e. It's called wall e the musical but instead of audio animatronics(with the exception of auto, the wall-as and hal who is a remote controlled cockroach) the robots, the captain and the other humans are live performers

Man, I still have a clear memory of waiting, sitting on the floor, for the next showing of Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit, as I thought it to be called. I may have seen Food Rocks once, since I do remember an oddly family-friendly Tone Loc character from my childhood, but I might just be thinking of Fern Gully. It seems tolerably adequate, if not quite as entertaining as the Kitchen Kaberat (Mortal Kombat totally ripped off the replacing the hard C with a K gag from them, and I love it--educational? Not so much. Entertaining? Hell, yes.)

Kitchen Kabaret talks about a balanced diet well, it's obviously relevant again with the my plate by usda it has fruit vegetables grains proteins and dairy so I guess the whole balanced diet has come full circle would have made sense to bring it back for epcot's 30th in 2012 after my plate came about in 2011.

I hope you don't mind me asking a mostly unrelated question. (It does have to do with the Land pavilion!) Once upon a time I know there was a piece of a 20k Leagues Nautilus that you could see if you looked outside while you took the Behind the Seeds tour. Do you know if it's still there? I've seen pictures but they were from several years ago. I think about three years ago my husband and I took the tour and looked for it, but didn't see it, so I'm assuming it's gone.

Food Rocks is actually where I first heard a lot of those songs as a kid. Not really mourning its loss though, since Soarin' was the last real improvement they made to Epcot. Everything they've put in since then has been inferior to whatever it replaced IMO.

Yeah I do think so. There is so much unused space back there. I don’t think it will be a big attraction but a family or kid one I can see happening. Not heard anything though and I know a lot of people who are back there every day

What I don’t understand is why they’re trying to combine elements of the old Epcot for nostalgia but having completely different attractions with a completely different goal. I mean if they’re going to stray away from Epcot original purpose why don’t they just go all the way and change the name of the park and be something totally different.🤷‍♂️
