Spend more time watching vintage racing KZbin that today's BIG 3 series combined. I've been buying old Stock Car Racing magazines from the 60s up to 1981's down sizing Hang on every word. I was 13 when I bought my first one in May 1980 with paperroute/mowing money. Now I'm spending hundreds of dollars reliving the best of NASCAR. WORTH every dollar I've spent. Just got my complete 74 & 76's today.

I truly enjoy the history though I've been involved in the sport as a car owner at times. My main job was lettering many cars since 1952 and the old American Legion Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee. I lettered Darrell Waltrip's very first Grand National car in 1972, th Terminal transport Mercury. There has never been nor will there ever be a sport to match stock car racing.

I'm a Brit and I used to follow NASCAR reports in good old HOT ROD magazine in the 60s and 70s. Is HOT ROD still published I haven't seen a copy in years. Those years were the best real stock cars big powerful and looked a million dollars. Only downside was safety perhaps wasn't as good as today. Still there was some awesome crashes and they survived. Today's NASCAR racing is faster but like modern cars the race cars have no character and as I'm 75 now perhaps nostalgia is my thing. Anyway thanks America for NASCAR and Drag racing the two ultimate motor sports in my opinion.

Nascar was infinitely better in the glory days of the late 50's all through the 60s into the mid 70s. Now there is no real creativity or ingenuity involved. Uh.....it wasn't Winston Cup until 1972..... That alone shows that this isn't exactly an authoritative video... It's more like someone editing together someone else's work... You seem to think that the Winston Cup and NASCAR are interchangable terms... For history, you fail...😎 By the way... Darryl Waltrip is the winningest driver in Winston Cup history with 86 wins.... Petty has the most wins in NASCAR's top division with 200...

I've been a NASCAR fan for nearly 50 years, and this is one of the WORST documentaries ever made about the sport. It's totally unorganized, just jumps all over the place back & forth through time, and omits many of NASCAR's greatest moments. Extremely cheesy to boot. VERY POORLY DONE. Any time the term "HISTORY" is used in a title, the program SHOULD BE in chronological order, from the earliest to the more recent. That does not happen at all in this one. It's nothing but fudged together chaos. I don't care whether you're a long-time fan of auto racing, or a newbie: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS VIDEO. TRUST ME. There are many others that are FAR BETTER.

"Free" doesn't have anything to do with how LOUSY this show is. How could any organization set out to produce "the history of NASCAR" and wind up with this dud. Go watch THE OTHER "History of the Golden Era of NASCAR" to see AND learn what I'm talking about. It's here on youtube, and it's also "free". It's posted in 3 parts. It goes into the details better than any I've ever seen, and covers EVERY owner, driver, mechanic, etc with so much passion & effort, that it makes this version absolutely pitiful. If you're gonna do something.........DO IT RIGHT.
