Over twenty years later, Mike falling in the fire is still maybe the greatest single episode of Survivor. You could watch that episode alone without ever seeing another Survivor episode and walk away deeply impacted.

Jerri and Colby can claim to be legends in the Survivor pantheon, for a specific reason. She became the poster child for the darkness (for whatever reason) while he would be the archetype for the light (the American flag). But more than that, during HvV, she was the only member of the Villains tribe to believe she was not incorrectly placed (and sported a black hat to prove it).

To this day I can't believe Colby's sheer stupidity in taking Tina to the final two. It simply wouldn't happen in the modern game.

Personally, I appreciate when the castaway with that decision at the end brings along someone who played a good game rather than drag along an easy opponent. I'm not sure I could make the same move as Colby, but I hope I would.

Amazing I’m rewatching the series at the moment (on Africa) and I needed the appreciation for the old school seasons! Really liked the video! I’m surprised Amber didn’t get a highlight purely because of All-stars (also a severely under edited player) as a wink it Makes sense though because she didn’t do much at all this season. I also didn’t like Colby at all in AO (didn’t care for Jerri much but liked her better then Colby though)

Thanks, I’m really glad you enjoyed it!! Right now the plan is to do 7 videos; one for each of the pre all star seasons. It’s possible that I’ll do more, maybe all stars maybe some of the seasons before Cook Islands. I’ve also thought one offs like Gabon could be worth making a video on. I think it will probably be at least 18 months before the first seven are all done so that’s all wayyyy down the line though

I think Kel smuggled Beef Jerky into Australia, but not in the game proper, if that makes any sense.

From what I could find there were lots of weird goings-on with Kel before the season. Apparently he brought shoes which production found suspicious. I guess the plane ride to the location was also delayed because production had some hang up with Kel. It’s hard to separate the facts from the speculation but he definitely at least tried to bring something into the game

To be honest the reaction to 41s finale really surprised me. I really haven’t seen survivor fans (both casual and hardcore) split like that in a long time. Reminded me of the type of emotional investment that we had with the castaways back in the old school days. Except now everyone is fired up about who made better moves as opposed to who everyone liked the most, same stuff with a new coat of paint
