ISS Pro in 97 was my first game in general. As an 8 year old on my ps1 and a love for football. ISS Pro Evolution was my second and that game had everything; a Master League, trophy cabinet and awesome trophy celebrations with great music. PES 5 was imo the best footie.

PES 1,2 and 6 were amazing.. 1 & 2 were gamechanging back in the day with a very fun ML, while 6 might be the best football game ever made especially for its time

PES 3-6 were incredible games and a much better alternative to FIFA at the time. I loved master league and updating the kits etc, it’s a shame to see what it’s now become. at least I got to play through the peak football games.

Actually, in your research in pes 2014 on the fox engine if you took a shot and you missed, did you ever get a second pause when it went out for a goal kick? Used to do my head in but in your footage it didn’t look like it did.

There was a golden period where PES was pissin all over FIFA. Key memories off top of my head - Adriano's shot power, Beckham and Juninho Pernambucano's Free Kick accuracy, decades of Master League seasons building and rebuilding your team, buying memory cards off ebay that fixed all the names/badges/competitions and their logos. NOSTALGIA OVERLOAD 😂

Really enjoyed this documentary as it look me down memory lane. I owned or played all but one or two of the iterations of PES, ISS and efootball shown and they provided many hours of fun through many facets of my life. Really hope Efootball can continue to do so and return to its offline routes. Just when I thought this documentary couldn’t get any better, the outro summary and music blew my mind. I see that it uses Jun’s stage music from Tekken 2 which is perhaps my best fighting game soundtrack tune ever. Played it back it several times . Bravo!

Great job! Many thanks to the author for the dive into the history of the best football simulator and in my childhood! Personally for me ISS Deluxe on Sega, ISS Pro '98 and ISS Pro Evolution 2 on SP1, PES 2 and PES 6 on SP2, PES 2011 and eFootball PES 2021 Season Update on PC have become the standard of football simulator, in them you can feel the developers’ love for football in every detail. I believe, that the true football simulator is not about endless pack opening or about speed advantage. For me, a football simulation is a huge number of random situations on a football field, even if they can be players with fictitious names in the kit of a fictitious football team. Football is an art form , PES (ISS) is an example of the art of creating sport video games.

I was surprised you didn't go in harder on the initial PS3 games. After the dizzy heights of PES5 and PES6 on the PS2, PES2008 on PS3 was a disaster, and drove a lot of PES die hards into the loving arms of EA's product, which was playable. The PES08 graphics looked better on this video (emulated?) than I remember them being at the time. The gameplay seemed to be really off, laggy inputs were mentioned. Online was totally stillborn. Edit mode had been totally gutted out. I'd usually play a new PES right through the release of the next one, but I put PES2008 down pretty quickly after it arrived, and I got into modding PES6 on the PC instead, which also had half decent online play. The ironic thing is, I seem to remember 2 lads having a podcast at the time, where they were really putting Konami on blast for the state of things over those bad years. One of those guys was none other than Adam Bhatti, now the mouthpiece for Konami! PES2009 was a slight improvement (still with bad online). It wasn't really until PES2010 they seemed to deliver something close to how I expected PS3 PES to be, at least for offline 1 and 2 player, PES2011, I had a lot of fun with Online Master League. Apart from that, loved this video. I played every version from ISS Pro on PS1, through to PES2011 on PS3 (including some of the imported hipster deep cuts, The patched versions of WE6:FE were awesome), before having a break until I got into them again up until the end of PES as we knew it.

love this video. btw in ISS on the SNES, 26 international teams was enough for a world cup back then. USA 94 was the tournament at the time and that only featured 24 teams. So if anything, Konami were truly going overboard by TWO WHOLE TEAMS

Thank you for this video. Honestly, PES is somehow part of my life. I'm 33 yo, but i Play PES since i was 10 i think. So 23 years of playing. Maybie because I'm now much older, this new versions are not making me happy. I don't know is it because of my age, but i was much happier before when i played. Ofc Pes was never perfect(licences, details), but memories are great. And i still have the will to play PES Konami dissapointed me with no ML in last two years. It's only need a little to make a great game. ISS 2000, Pes 5&6 , and Pes 13 are my best choices.

I remember going to my cousins to play PES Master League, from PES 2010 to PES 2012, many vacations nights playing together, he would control the entire team and i will lock Messi to play as Barcelona was the dominant team back then, he was a fan of Barcelona while i am a fan of Real Madrid but his game his rules 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so we played with Barcelona, every time the UEFA anthem started we would stand on our feet and listen to the majestic anthem and played the match with heart, core memories of one of my best times of my childhood, or playing Winning Eleven with my uncles in the early 2000's, damn, what have they done to PES😭

PES 6's Japanese iteration (WE 10) DID have the Bundesliga though. It's quite probably the most complete game of the series among those released for PS2, since it also has the ball control and shooting playability upgrades PES 6 has.

ISS 2000 on the n64 is still my favourite football game in terms of gameplay.. And Skyrim is my favourite game of all time..Mario kart snes and and bomberman are my fave multiplayers..Blackout (black ops 4) is my fave shoot em up. Zelda is my favourite nostalgic game...Civ 5 is my fave strategy game

PES was majestic. PES 1-6 was a moment in fucking time man. Never have I seen a series so ridiculously ahead of it's contemporaries. It wasn't a contest, PES was like two generations ahead. Playing the first PES was like a religious experience, lol. And guess what? There are things PES did well like making the ball a separate entity that was chaotic, random and took skill to pass and control that FIFA still hasn't mastered yet.

The World Cup only featured 24 teams in 1990 and 1994. So ISS having 26 teams does allow a full tournament for the time.

Most of older football players grow up with konami My first football game was wining eleven 3 up to pes 11. Now im playing fifa since 2013 even now still using square as shoot and R1 as run. Konami mistakes is in 2 reasons 1: losing clubs and league license (i don't care about option file) 2: online servers are bad Those are the reason of konami football collapse.

PES 2019 onwards started to offer an unrealistically slow brand of football that was trying too hard to simulate the flow of a real football match without implementing the AI improvements that would actually make it happen. As a result, i could never get into PES 2019-2021, it was way too slow and unresponsive. I don't think there's any way of denying how the PS2 era is the pinnacle of the series.

I play all of them but until those days remember PES 2008, 2009 like the best... Then something go terrible wrong, I not remember what exactly or 2013 or 2014 or 2011, some of them was made terrible wrong, skills not feeling anymore, was no different or you play Ronaldo or no name players they feel like cows on ice...
