The battle of the 300 spartans at hot gates took place 440BC , at that time , who knows if the Rome even existed ( only tribes in the latin islands). So , if at that moment , The Xherxes passed through Spartans and Greeks and got into Europe, they would become the dominatora of the world literally. I consider , only God did the miracle that gived so much power to spartans and greeks at that time to be able to face off the Persians. Rome , because it choosed to develop the society , not be barbaric like others , thats why God choosed them to rule over the world , because they worth this title , because they reformed our world we know today. Everything breaks down were wealthiness gets a unstoppable lust , and the Emperor Nero was such an not-right person for such an enormous responsability.

This map demonstrates the technological advantage of boats. Their boarders don’t stray far from coastlines. And when hearing about the collapse of the romans from stretching their empire out too far It helps back up the importance of naval travel at the time.
@oscarmoxon9 ай бұрын
It's actually equally connected to the fact that the terrain is unique around the Mediterranean region. There's a common theory that civilisations adapt well to their home climate, and find it hard to break out of their territorial home; which is why the Germans were never able to defeat the forest-dwelling barbarians, or venture East. But the boat enabled a very trade dependent civilisational structure, which meant that Rome could support itself with a relatively sparse army. If you look at the size of their military, it's a fraction of what other civilisations used relative to their size.

Emperor Zeno sent the ostrogoths to kill odoacer and regain italy for rome.
@rationalbasis2172 Жыл бұрын
First, Odoacer was long dead by the time of Justinian. Second, the "punishment" resulted in near total depopulation of Rome and most of the Italian peninsula, which didn't recover for about 700 years. It is estimated that by the time of Belisarius' occupation of Rome, only 25,000 people were left living in the city (from a high of nearly a million in the mid-Principate.) Finally, the letter and imperial insignia was not sent by Odoacer, it was sent by the Roman Senate.
@flaviusjconstantius Жыл бұрын
@@rationalbasis2172lmao the senate sent the envoy which presented the regalia to Zeno, but Odoacer was very much behind the decision. Hell, half of the envoys mission was to get Zeno’s approval of Odoacer as patricius, and governor of Italy. Not to mention Odoacer utilized the Roman Senate and institutions during his own reign, so it’s not like he was absent from senatorial operations in any way.

Here you are showing the Western Roman's Collapse, But Eastern Half is Still Surviving and is As Roman as west. Constantinople was the Capital of the Unified Roman Empire 330 AD to 380 AD. So Eastern Rome has better Roman Connection than the Western Part as Western Part only had rome, which was no longer the Capital.
