Laszlo finishes off this brief overview of The Honorable Company. It's a very rough landing for the East India Company as their commercial rivals and political enemies gradually put an end to their winning run going back to the 17th century.

This was fantastic! I'm currently undertaking a research project on the Fall of the East India Company and this podcast was spectacularly helpful, it gave me such a good insight to the Company and the detail was amazing! Would love to see more EIC content!

Strongly recommend John Keay's book on the EIC. Thanks for checking out my little overview.

That the tea bushes were first planted in the Darjeeling area in the mid 1850s leads one to believe that, maybe, just maybe, the topics of (1) tea, (2) silk, (3) porcelain, and (4) opium could fit under CHP, if not already.

@@silverlining6824 Tea...did a 10-part series already. Silk, already covered in an earlier episode. Opium....also covered that one already. Porcelain...coming but already covered extensively in the History of Tea series. I got you covered......

Is there a season two of Taboo? I was under the impression it wasn’t getting one….which is a pity - I liked it kept the ugliness of England at the time

Yeah, BBC confirmed there would be a Season 2. But that was back in 2017 and everyone's still waiting. Too bad! Great series that was.

I love stories based on factual history. I'm totally hooked. i'm confined in house for years due to illness and agoraphobia, with only my son to talk to. Listening to podcast is like opening up a new world for me. I've been watching utube videos for year, always thought podcasts were too boring, but you make it interesting, enjoy listening to you, look forward to more histories of exotic lands.

If you have about 200 hours to kill, I have plenty of stuff for you. Been doing this for more than ten years so the back catalog is quite extensive. I hope you enjoy it. There are thousands and thousands of hours of other history podcast content out there waiting for you, on every topic, country, and civilization. Enjoy! And wishing you good health.

You are way too generous and kind Michael. This was a throwaway series I did special for Cathay Pacific Airways Inflight Entertainment....I wasn't expecting much yet it turned out to be pretty popular (though not on this KZbin channel considering the anemic amount of listens so far.) . Glad you liked it. The EIC's story is really interesting.
