I grew up near an airbase with a large fleet of C-130s - both 4 blade prop and 6 blade prop J is models - and let me tell you, there is nothing that gives me a more nostalgic feeling than hearing the beautiful, unique sound of four turboprop engines humming in the sky. I've since moved away and I can say that that one small detail is something I never even though about, but man do I miss that sound. It's something of a sight for the folks where I live now, it's highly unusual, but for me, it's home.

As a crew chief on E & Super E model herc's that carried me to 34 countries over a 24 year career I have to say it's the greatest aircraft ever built and continues to serve our country..

My grandfather flu, one of these birds, for the majority of his career in the Navy. He ranked up to Lt. and passed several promotions from there. One of my favorite stories of his. Is that the one when he was a boardship for what he called in eternity. he got his orders to fly out it. Land in Hawaii had a good week of R&R. Before he went through the checkpoint, he saw 4 apples. That looked better than anything that was aboard ship. he had one Apple down when he was going through the checkpoint two in his pocket, one in his hand . He said hi to the checkpoint guards flashed. His ID started walking towards his bird, walked up the stairs, while the MP was chasing him. He said, sir, sir, you cannot take those apples with you. my grandfather then said to him well him stems and said well you’re gonna have to wait for me to hit the head to get the rest of them. He said his crew nearly shit their pants from laughing so hard. I believe it lol.

@@dannymoore6886 Those are still used. If you have a 1SG/CPT with a sense of humor you can also pull off... A is for Army....Army Army Army R is for Army....Army Army Army M is for Army....Army Army Army Y is for Army...Army Army Army. That's some 5-6 mile cadence. But when I went in in '97 "Eskimo pu**y" was still "mighty cold".

3 years to design and produce. If this plane was made today it would take 2 decades do develop and be 3 times over budget.
